The episode begins with the crown prince in the palace as the subordinate who got injured in a previous episode comes to talk to the crown prince, showing that he has healed. Through this conversation, we also learn that the disguise spell that the crown prince uses whenever he goes out causes more strain on both the person utilizing the spell and the artifact the longer and more frequently the spell is used. During this conversation, Ren comes in and has a conversation with the crown prince, mainly to talk to the prince about Elise.
Back at the Clorence residence, Elise is studying for the physician’s exam when Chris comes in and takes away her feather pen, telling Elise that she should take a break from studying and go out. Elise does end up going out, and just through habit, she ends up at the hospital, where one of her coworkers reminds her that it’s her day off. Elise is about to head off when she runs into the crown prince in disguise as Ron. He decides that he’s going to pay back the debt that he owes Elise by taking her to one of the most reputable cafes in the area, at which Elise enjoys the strawberry tart. After they take time at the cafe, Elise looks over and notices the poster for a play that she remembers becoming popular later on.
The two decide to enjoy the play, and it goes normally until a fight scene where the throwing of swords causes a candelabra to drop the candles it was holding and have one of them set fire to the curtain. Elise and the others run out of way from the danger, and when they need to get out of the building, Elise instructs everyone to cover their nose and mouth and to keep low. Some nobles object, but when the crown prince (still in his Ron disguise) calls them out for how if they died it wouldn’t be in the way that they would’ve liked, the nobles decide to listen to Elise and keep low and cover their mouths and noses. The group heads towards some stairs, and everyone except Elise and the crown prince manages to get down them before the path collapses.
The crown prince and Elise end up hearing the screams of a child, and so they find another way out through the basement, where they also see a sister and her older brother, with the older brother being stuck under some debris and the little sister refusing to leave her older brother’s side. The crown prince decides to stay to help the boy while telling Elise to take the girl and go. Elise does do so, and as the crown prince tries to save the boy, his disguise spell ends up wearing off. Outside, Elise and the girl are waiting, with the building collapsing. Elise tries to run up to the building, but she gets blocked off. The crown prince (somehow back in his Ron disguise) and the boy end up being okay, though, as they come out from the basement. The crown prince tries to touch Elise, but ends up faltering. He also ends up disappearing into the crowd when he notices that Elise has noticed that her brother Chris is here.
Back at the Clorence household, Chris apologizes for the fact that she had to experience something so bad on her day out, despite the fact that he had no part in it. And with the crown prince, we hear that he won’t be able to transform for a while. I wonder how that’s going to end up playing out for the series…
Overall, this was a fun episode. While it doesn’t seem to move the main plot forward that much, it still helps to develop the relationship between the crown prince and Elise. But now, I have the expectation in either the next episode or the episode after that seeing Elise take the physician’s exam. Will I drop the show if this season ends without Elise taking the physician’s exam? No. But with the fact that it’s become a returning thing with having Elise study, I expect to see it soon. Guess only time will tell.
