Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 10 – “Ocean”

Before watching this episode, I wasn’t feeling all that happy. I won’t go into too much detail, but if there’s a package you’ve been awaiting for a while (with you NOT KNOWING where it is for most of its journey!) that you finally know to expect today…only for it to not be delivered, alongside any of the mail for the mailboxes that are on the same mailbox holder thing that yours is on, because the cans for one of your neighbor’s garbage and recycling is in the way, you probably wouldn’t be happy either. I feel better after watching the episode, so I’ll stop wasting time and get to reviewing the episode.

The episode begins with Majin Kuu fighting against the Tamagami in the First Demon World. While we get occasional cutaways back to this in the episode, I will state that Majin Kuu ends up forefitting and goes back with Arinsu. While his fate is still unknown as of the end of this episode, this will be one of the points that keeps me coming back. After all, even though it feels like he’s intended to be more of a gag character, there’s the potential that he could develop.

Anyway, back to the main gang. They get to Warp-sama, and after being asked about why they don’t look like Gendarmerie, a quick “we’re family” manages to let them pass, and travel to the Second Demon World, which has a lot of water combined with the floating planets…which is most likely where the episode title comes from. Of course, they get attacked by Gendarmerie planes, and during this battle, the plane gets hit.

Gosh darn it.

However, Goku does take out the other planes and gets back onto theirs…which is when THE KRAKEN GETS RELEASED! Because if you fly too low, the kraken ATTACKS! While the plane gets captured, Panzy does go back to get the Dragon Ball…which requires Goku intervention to get her out. Which means both the plane and the supplies (minus the Dragon Ball) is gone. The four decide to wait for Hybis and the others at the old Planet Namek. That group does arrive (after Goku goes off to warn them about the kraken once he sensed them), and so everyone loads into Hybis’ plane and flies off. Of course, that old Namek dude from Episode 1 was watching from the shadows…for some reason. Maybe that will get expanded on in future episodes.

The next episode preview appears to show a fight against a Tamagami, which…wow. Already? Imagine if it was just a dream sequence or something. However, this appears to be a monumental episode. And it appears that once next week’s episode and the episode after that airs, we’re most likely getting a break from Daima for a bit, as the Crunchyroll Winter 2025 Simulcast Calendar only plays up the English dub coming on January 10th, not a continuation of the sub. However, with how much polish that it feels like these episodes need, I’ll welcome the break, if it means that there’s the chance for these episodes to get even better. Not to say that they aren’t already good; however, it’s clear that a lot of time is put into production. The lore reveals (which I have chosen to omit this time) were also very good as well! Honestly, I can’t wait to see where this story goes in the future! And if there really is a break between this cour and when the next one is (because there is NO WAY this is wrapping up in one cour), then that would mean that I’m watching the remaining episodes of this cour (this one included!) on a bigger screen than my laptop screen!
