Dragon Ball DAIMA Episode 12 – “True Strength”

I’ll just get this out of the way before I begin the review. The start of the Winter 2025 season is going to be funky on my end, due to the current uncertainty I have regarding whether Crunchyroll will actually get episodes of Dragon Ball Daima starting with Episode 13 out as a simulcast or not. I was running under the assumption from the seasonal guide that the show would take a break from airing until the Spring 2025 season, but as that may not be the case, I don’t want to start publishing a new series of writeups only to find out that Daima is still ongoing. So, my first post for the Winter 2025 season will be on the 10th of January. Whether that’s a new episode of Daima or an episode of a show that I want to cover in a writeup format like this is currently left up to fate, but I’ll certainly know more once the 10th rolls around.

And while I did state something wrong at the end of my writeup last week, I get a pass because I was running off of the knowledge that I had at the time. And the misinfo that I spread last time was that Vegeta got swallowed. He didn’t. I just jumped to a conclusion. And it appears that Goku had that same conclusion as well. Don’t worry Goku, you’re in good company. Of course, fighting against the Tamagami while trying to avoid the kraken is hard work…and Vegeta does actually get in the mouth of it once, but he does manage to get out.

Neva also powers up the Tamagami, and Vegeta goes Super Saiyan 3 (which even GOKU is surprised about), but the Tamagami does wave a white flag for the physical portion of the challenge…and then we get to the mental part, which appears to be a story problem like one would receive in a math class. Vegeta almost runs out of time, but he comes up with the answer of zero, because snakes can’t eat biscuits (I’m not explaining the full problem), which gets marked as correct. My personal belief is that either the logical answer (none) AND the answer that actually follows the problem (i’m not doing the math) are correct, someone would just need to provide either one. Now with two dragon balls, and one fix of the engine later once everyone gets on board, and the crew is off…though it does appear there!

Of course, sprinkled in with the fight with the second Tamagami is Duu fighting the Tamagami of the First Demon World. He does well until he begins asking for chocolate, which Kuu rushes to buy. One chocolate powerup later, and Duu fights the Tamagami well enough for it to wave the white flag and move on to the mental part of the challenge…which is math! Of course, the numbers go faster than would be seen as reasonable, but Kuu manages to add them all up and tells Duu, who says the answer to get the Dragon Ball. Nobody noticed the assist, however. Not even Arinsu. So now all three Dragon Balls are officially on the table, though on two different sides of the conflict.

Also, Gomah and Shin’s brother (I’m not gonna take the effort to remember his name) have figured out that Arinsu is up to something, and aren’t particularly happy.

After this episode, Dragon Ball Daima is taking a one week break for the New Year, and will be resuming in Japan on the 10th of January. While not what I expected from how the Crunchyroll seasonal lineup for the Winter 2025 season was set up, assuming Crunchyroll still gets Episode 13 up at regular time, I will be watching. It feels like we’re getting closer to what the endgame is supposed to be…and closer to finding out what Glorio’s deal is. I don’t trust him. I don’t trust him at all.
