This sure has been quite a year, huh? …what do you mean we’re STILL in the first month of the year?! It feels like we’ve already been through eleven months and are about to round out the twelfth! Is that just me being dramatic?! Ugh, let’s just get this review over with, so that I don’t just devolve this into me complaining about 2025.
The episode begins with Gomah and Degesu seeing Goku and the others falling/flying into the First Demon World, and Gomah making the decision to send out forces to attack the group. And like…a lot of people just to take out the group. They even got planes out! That’s freaking overkill! …is what I would say if I wasn’t a Dragon Ball fan.
While the group begins by hiding, Goku ends up fighting, and during the fight, he gets hurt by one of the gun things that they use, causing him to get a bit slower. He’s not down for the count, however, as he grabs Nyoibo and makes some attempt at fighting back. Vegeta also tries fighting back (like the proud Saiyan prince that he is), and Piccolo even joins in on the fight (although a hit to a vital would be lethal). Vegeta does get hit hard enough that he needs a Revive Bug, but most of this is just your typical fight scene. And while they get through the first wave, there’s a second that’s much more intense, and all seems like it’d be said and done…but of course, I knew this wouldn’t be the case.
Instead, Panzy’s dad comes from the Third Demon World to help in the fight! While at first it seems like the back-up would’ve been down for the count…nope, they’re still in! And with that, the crew keeps moving forward, with Gomah having no choice but needing to send the Gendarmerie Force after the group.
Oh, yeah, Hybis also trades his belt (which was revealed with certainty in this episode to be the Evil Eye that Gomah is looking for), for a hat. I’m almost positive that the person Hybis traded with was sent by Gomah to receive it. It makes the most sense, plot-wise.
Speaking of the Evil Eye, Abura losing it was enough for Dabura to take the throne. Which, okay, I’m not going to question that. I still find it so silly that out of ALL people to find the Evil Eye, it was one of the best characters that’s new to Daima, Hybis.
Even if I was a bit skimpier on the actual writeup for this episode (which, to be fair, is because the parts that I didn’t cover are just your typical fight scene stuff. And like…how am I supposed to cover that without becoming Ichiro from the Ranma 1/2 reboot and just giving you a play-by-play of the fight? I don’t think that I should be doing this, as I don’t want my reviews to be a full-on replacement for watching the episode. However, I still think the animation in this series is gorgeous, especially during the fight scenes.
My current prediction for the next episode is that it will most likely have a Degesu focus when it comes to the bad guys (ESPECIALLY SINCE HIS NAME IS THE TITE OF THE NEXT EPISODE!), and Arinsu plays some part somehow. Maybe also some clarity on what side Glorio is really on…but at this point, that’d just be a nice bonus on top of everything else. But my Glorio skeptic butt will not rest MENTALLY until I figure out which side Glorio truly belongs to!
