Honestly, I’m so glad that my extended episode prediction ended up being just a prediction and not real, because if it was real, I’d probably curl up into a ball and cry and then delay this post to tomorrow just to ensure I can cover everything accurately. Thank goodness this is the same length as a standard episode! And it’s also the final week of Dragon Ball Daima…it feels like just last week this series was announced. So, how does this entire series wrap up? Let’s find out.
The episode begins with Goku, in his Super Saiyan 4 transformation, fighting against Gomah, and the gang tries to get in the three hits to the back of the head. While the first attempt at doing this fails, it’s the second attempt that works, causing Gomah to lose his power and go back to being small. All thanks to Majin Kuu!
Of course, due to the acts that Gomah committed while serving as Demon King, punishment gets exacted upon him and Degesu. Initally, their punishment was to be getting sealed within some thingamajig for a century…but due to the sole fact that Gomah did not kill Dende, that punishment got lowered…to 99 years.
With the person previously serving as Supreme Demon King now being sealed away, the debate becomes “who takes over the throne?”, and it’s initially suggested for Arinsu to do this, which she basically declines. After Neva brings up that in this case the one to take the throne next is the one who took down the previous Demon King…which means that the inheritor of the throne is Majin Kuu, who begins throwing out royal titles left and right! Eh, I’m sure that he’s going to be a good ruler.
But with all of that said and done, Goku and the crew prepare to go home. Speaking of home, the credits show everyone on Earth back to normal! We even get a fun little post-credits scene where the gang stops back at the Medic Bug shop from earlier in the series for Goku to pick up more of the Revive Bugs. Bulma also finds a bug that she can use instead of gathering up the Dragon Balls just to get this exact thing…and then the biggest twist of the series that I’m only highlighting here because I don’t know how many people actually watched the post-credits scene: there are actually three Third Evil Eyes, and the other two are still trying to be sold by the Medic Bug person!
Okay, now this leaves me with a massive question: what if someone powered up by a Third Evil Eye fights someone who is also powered up with a Third Evil Eye? Will it just be a never-ending battle? Or is the only way to defeat someone powered up by a Third Evil Eye without removing their Third Evil Eye is to power yourself up with a Third Evil Eye? …I wrote that phrase too many times in one sentence, send me to repetition jail now.
Anyway, I enjoyed this episode and the series as a whole…except for Episode 13. You know exactly what you did Episode 13. However, if you’re a Dragon Ball fan and you’re looking for more Dragon Ball content, then I think Dragon Ball Daima is a must-watch, especially since Toriyama had a hand in creating the story. And hey! Maybe the Dragon Ball Super manga will utilize Super Saiyan 4! I don’t read the manga, so I have no clue!
Would I recommend Dragon Ball Daima as someone’s first Dragon Ball series? No. I recommend watching Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z (or Dragon Ball Z Kai) first so that you can get to know the characters and how they act, and then watch Dragon Ball Daima. If you want more stories after watching Dragon Ball Daima, then you can go watch Dragon Ball Super…just keep in mind that the quality of it feels like it’s on a pendulum. Should you watch Dragon Ball GT? I have no clue, I’ve never watched Dragon Ball GT, and I’m not going to watch it at any point in the foreseeable future. Ask my mom if you should watch Dragon Ball GT, because she’s actually seen it.
Thank you for this final gift, Akira Toriyama. I don’t know if it’s the final gift you wanted to give us, but I think deep down, it’s the final gift the fandom deserved.
