Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective Episode 10 – “Drowning in a Dry Room [Part 1]”

Make sure to note down the annoyance of the skip weeks in the forthcoming Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective Anime Spotlight. While they won’t be an issue for people who watch the series outside of the simulcast setup, the annoyance of this as a neurodivergent individual is still worth bringing up in hopes that this same schedule doesn’t repeat for future simulcasts I watch.

…oh! I’m sorry, I must not have noticed you come in. Well, come sit down. I’ve got saltines and donuts prepped, and I’d be more than happy to enlighten you on my thoughts. What’s currently on the schedule for today…a writeup on Episode 10 of Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective, huh? Funnily enough, I was talking about that to myself earlier!

…oh, you heard that? …ah. I better get into the writeup, then. Don’t wanna waste your time.

The episode opens with Takanashi getting a note that tells him that he’s going to be transferring back to the university hospital on April 1st. Meanwhile, at some area in that hospital, we witness the victim go into cardiac arrest and spit up water when someone does chest compressions.

Spoiler alert: this person ends up dying, and is the reason why Takanashi is being called back to the university hospital. Desperate to keep her assistant, however, Takao decides to try and solve the case herself. As you probably guessed, this episode sets up the case. More than likely, more evidence will be introduced next episode, with the conclusion coming either that episode or the episode after that. Yeah, I’m being open to that. My prediction for how the episodes would end up being split was wrong, so I’m being open with how things will play out. But you know what this episode sets up? That this is a locked room mystery! Those are always fun, because then you can consider how various areas are connected together!

And remember…I think either last week or the week before that? Whenever I was that I talked about Takao and licenses if I ever talked about that? Yeah, as it turns out, Takao has her own license, but relies on Takanashi for transportation because her sister doesn’t like her driving. So, like…I can sense a selfish reason for Takao to want to keep Takanashi around, but eh, everything’s all fine and dandy.

With everything that’s been revealed so far, though, I cannot feel confident enough in any hypothesis that I come up with to be able to try and poach it out to you guys as what I’m pinning down as my hypothesis. And while there’s a character that has a clear motive for why they’d want the victim dead, although I am not confident enough in myself to pin them as a prime suspect quite yet. However, because this episode also has the [Part 1] designation that the last mystery had, I am positive that this will be ANOTHER two part mystery. And if I’m wrong, then oh freaking well. We’re already close enough to the end of this series as is, and for all I know, I could actually be right.

I say, knowing full well you guys can just pull up an episode list and smile and nod and be like “yeah Sara, keep on writing these knowing full well that these are going up AFTER this series has aired like the good girl you are.”

…oh freaking gosh, I’m starting to sound like the average TikTok commenter [at least as of March 19th, 2025]. What am I doing?

To change the subject from that, I’m honestly curious to see how this all will wrap up, be it in the next episode or the one after that. To make up for me just describing set-up this week, I’ll probably get deeper into the clues next week. Just…gotta hope I remember that sentiment. Who freaking knows at this point. But see ya then.
