Secrets of the Silent Witch Episode 6 – “A Cup out of Place”

Today’s Sara Talks Anime! episode writeup about Secrets of the Silent Witch is brought to you by another episode synopsis that I feel like is needlessly long! Let’s see the offending episode synopsis this time!

The episode synopsis for Secrets of the Silent Witch Episode 6, which reads "Serendia Academy is a distinguished academy dedicated to nurturing refined ladies and gentlemen, so girls are required to take ballroom dancing and tea party classes. Since Monica lived in isolation in a mountain cabin for a long time, she must re-take her ballroom dance test. Monica was already struggling, and to make matters worse, the tea party announcement was made. Her group is Monica’s friends Lana Colette and Casey Grove, as well as Claudia who is an intelligent woman known as the “walking library.” How will the tea party and Monica’s re-examination for the ballroom dance go?"
If I had a nickel for every time an episode of this series had a synopsis that I felt was longer than necessary…

Five sentences for this synopsis. More than the previous time I felt a synopsis was too many sentences long for this series, and just…ugh! A better synopsis in my opinion would be “Monica struggles to fit in as she navigates ballroom dancing and tea party classes” instead of this long ass five sentence synopsis.

I swear to god, Crunchyroll should give me a job to write synopses for them.

They were doing such a good job, too! The synopsis for Episode 5 was only a single sentence long! Can we get the person who wrote the synopses for Episodes 1-3 and 5 back on synopsis writing duty please? I refuse to believe the synopses for Episodes 4 and now this episode were written by the same person as the synopses I love! :<

But despite my gripes regarding the synopsis, this was still a great episode! Both of the big events in this episode felt like they were properly paced and given as much attention as was required for the episode. Everything appeared to be properly balanced, with not a single thing out of place.

…okay, so maybe there was a drink and some steps in the episode that were out of place, but those make sense plot wise and didn’t feel like they came straight out of left field.

Now, my biggest complaint is that this series isn’t translating the titles for its next episode things. Since it appears that the person who they’re having subtitle this thinks adding credits for their subtitling job is more important than subtitling the name of the next episode, I’m gonna finally take action and translate it myself…using Google Translate because I don’t know enough Japanese to translate this.

A screenshot of Google Translate being used to translate the name of Episode 7. The translation translates it as "Villainous Lady".
Fine. Guess I’ll do it myself.

Now, there’s the chance that this translation isn’t accurate, but Google Translate is literally the first translation service that I can think of that allows me to translate via image, so based on the translation that’s provided, the next episode will likely provide development on either one of the characters previously introduced as a villainess or introduce a new character that fulfills this title…though based on how far we are into the series, I suspect that we’ll focus on an already introduced character.

But I’m really wondering when there’s gonna be another threat to Felix that we’ll see Monica fight off. Yeah, seeing her come out of her shell is fun and all, but isn’t part of the crux of this series that she’s guarding Felix in secret?

…maybe we’ll get that next week.
