With You and the Rain Episode 8 – “The Cry”

Life is hectic. That is the one constant that remains throughout life, no matter how much we fight to try and change that fact. Be it technical issues, craziness in politics, or just situations that are outside of your control, there’s no way to make a day completely calm. I could go on a rant and talk about how social media filters the frustrations of the people, but I know that if you want a moment of calm, you have to find one and seize it yourself. This is exactly why I enjoy With You and the Rain. It’s a series that, despite the mini conflicts that pop up, is on the calm side.

And, as per usual, this episode is fitting the bill of a calm episode quite well, with everything still falling nicely into place. And just like with a previous episode, everything for the final story in this episode was falling quite nicely into place. But before I hurried to praise it, I was apprehensive. What if it ended up just like that episode, and there was a post credits scene that ended up causing the episode to lose its impact like it did for that episode?

Well, I’m proud to say that this episode ended up dodging that bullet. While most of the stories don’t really tie into this, I’d like to bring your guys’ attention to the final story that was part of this episode (unfortunately, not the story that had the titled cry, but that was also a fun part of the episode).

At this specific portion of the episode, Fuji takes You (aka the critter) outside in the snow during the night, where she makes a couple of snow bunnies that You gets to see. After the credits, we see a daytime scene of two snow creations that look an awful lot like they could be Fuji and You.

Unlike the aforementioned previous episode, where I was questioning why the post credits scene was included in the first place, here I could fully understand the reasoning for why this post-credits scene was included. And, for me at least, this is an example of what the perfect episode of With You and the Rain is like.

If I was doing a tier list, then this episode would be an easy S tier. This episode is just everything I think about when I think of episodes of With You and the Rain, and ultimately, even if you don’t watch With You and the Rain, I still recommend checking out this episode.
