Sara Talks Anime

Another Friday, another episode of Secrets of the Silent Witch that comes out, at least until this series reaches it conclusion at the end of the anime season. And, like I predicted, the only thing that stayed the same between my Google Translated title from last week and the Crunchyroll translated title was secret. Unrevealed means the secret would still be hidden, so Crunchyroll’s official translated title makes sense.

And you know what? I understand this title more than the title that I got through Google Translate. Yes, secrets are intended to be hidden, but I think that the title isn’t referring to what occurred at the beginning of the episode, but more so connected to something that occurred in this video that I actually somewhat predicted: someone finding out that Monica is the Silent Witch. I’m not going to say who because of spoilers, but someone did manage that.

Too bad that Monica herself doesn’t know about it. Though I highly suspect that this will end up guiding the rest of the series, at least in the episodes that we have remaining. After all, this series is called Secrets of the Silent Witch, and while there’s already multiple secrets that she’s keeping, I suspect that she’ll eventually find out that this person knows that she’s the Silent Witch, and then have the plot move forward from there.

Ultimately, this was a “calm after/maybe before the storm” episode intent on getting the world back to the status quo that it held before now on top of that revelation. And you know what? There’s nothing wrong with that. Characters can’t be kicking ass 24/7 365 (366 during leap years!), unless that’s literally the entire sthick of their show. But even then, there need to be some episodes that are more on the chill side, or at the very least less intense than usual.

However, for this episode, in lieu of something that states the name of the next episode, we get a post credits scene that introduces a character that will likely have more importance later in the story. While I think this character is interesting at the moment, I’d like to wait for them to make their proper debut before I lay my proper judgment of their character down. Now, if I had a nickel for each time I’ve had to do that this anime season, I’d have two nickels, which many people probably wouldn’t guess as I’m only doing Secrets of the Silent Witch for my writeups over here, but it’s still strange that it happened twice in one anime season. Ah well, still something I can lol about.

But, because of that, that means we can’t play “Sara Google Translates the title and then guesses what the episode will be about based off of that”, to which…it’s fine. Honestly, I’d prefer not having those title cards with the title for the next episode pop up than having untranslated ones that I need to pop into Google Translate just to get the literal translation of what the next episode will be called. The best guess I can give is that the character from the post-credits scene will play at least some role in it. And if I end up being wrong? Then I end up being wrong. There’s nothing wrong with that.
