Clevatess Episode 12 – “Return of the King”

I would like to take back everything I said about this series not getting a second season, as before watching this episode, I learned that, yes, this series was in fact getting a second season. Though, knowing my luck, we’ll probably have a wait time similar to the one between the first season and the second season of Reborn as a Vending Machine.

Okay, let’s be honest, that’s most likely what’s going to happen. If I could wait two years for Reborn as a Vending Machine season 2, then I can wait two years for Clevatess season 2.

Maybe this series will end up surprising me and release its second season earlier. Who knows. But this was a fun episode, and I liked seeing how everything wrapped up, and the fact that Clevatess himself is still technically within that dark ichor sphere thing was addressed?! Mwah! Already getting high marks from me.

From the look of things, it seems like after this intense season, we’ll be…transitioning to a school setting for Season 2? I mean, I’m not 100% complaining about that, as with everything in this season, we need some time to chill out. Hopefully this is just like…the first arc, and not what ends up becoming the overarching plot of the season. I came to Clevatess for a darker fantasy story, and I currently do not see how a school life arc could add to it.

Now, will I still watch it when it does come out? Yes, as I’ve been enjoying the series so far, and I’m genuinely interested to see where it could go from here. Am I going to automatically hate the second season because of this little shift? No. I’ll need to wait and see how the season ends up playing with the concept before laying my judgment down there.

This episode was part wrapping up the important plot threads from this season, part set up for the next season, and I’m not complaining. But since I know that there will be a second season, I can’t get mad at an ending that sets up that there’s clearly more plot outside of an “and the adventures continue”, as there’s confirmation that more is coming.

But this does mean that I’ll have to keep my eyes out for news regarding when the second season is supposed to come out, mainly because I’ll continue to cover Clevatess once its second season comes out. And unless something happens that causes me to drop Clevatess as a simulcast, it’s probably a show that’s going to return to me covering it every once in a while due to new seasons.
