Yeah, I know, this writeup is coming out much later compared to when my other writeups for this series came out. But the wait for me to be able to watch this episode was pain! Thankfully, I didn’t have to deal with needing to look through multiple entries that are labeled as “Season 1” just to find it, but I still dislike how long I ultimately had to wait just to see it!
It was supposed to go up on Crunchyroll’s site at 9:30 AM PDT. It was not up at 9:30 AM PDT. I had to watch both of my other simulcasts that were scheduled for today and are supposed to go on past today before I could even watch this episode. And at the time I finally saw that Crunchyroll had the episode up on their service? They didn’t have the Japanese audio track! But because I’m impatient, I decided to watch the English dub instead of waiting for Japanese audio track and English subs, because I didn’t know how long that would take.
“But isn’t Crunchyroll going to use a subtitling software owned by someone in Is–“
Yeah, I know, this was kind of a side tangent, but I must ask that you guys verify sources before you spread news. I know you guys aren’t the issue, but some people seem to need the reminder.
Anyway, aside from those complaints I brought up earlier, I have another complaint, this time having a more direct connection to Secrets of the Silent Witch: the synopsis for this episode. Thank god this is the last time I’m gonna have to do this song and dance. The current synopsis on Crunchyroll is as follows:
The ancient magic tool the Starweaving Mira that is used at the “Magical Offering” during the Bell-Ringing Festival in Corlapton is stolen. The Starweaving Mira is an ancient magic tool that absorbs and liberates the mana of the land. It is a cursed item that is said to have its own mind and will kill the owner if it’s a male. The “Magical Offering” cannot take place without the Starweaving Mira. Monica doesn’t want the Bell-Ringing Festival that sends off the dead to be canceled, so she goes in search of the ancient magic tool. Thus beginning Monica the Silent Witch’s pursuit!
Okay, time for me to do my “rewriting the synopsis so that it’s actually suitable for a synopsis” bit: After the Starweaving Mira gets stolen, Monica pursues the thief to get the Bell-Ringing Festival back on track! See, Crunchyroll? You can just do that. No need to give seventy bajillion sentences that cover information that people should already know if they’ve been following the series.
However, this episode was still a good episode overall. It provided a satisfying conclusion to the arc that we were in, and it provides a good enough conclusion to satisfy people that don’t want to purchase the source material, while still leaving enough room for expansion into an additional season if needed. This episode was also so gorgeous, and I really hope that if a second season comes, we get to see more of those gorgeous visuals.
As this was my first time watching the English dub for this series, I’d have to say that the voices for the English dub were very good, and sounded like good interpretations of how a character with their personality would sound with an English voice, and feel like they’re all accurate compared to their Japanese voice…well, with the exception of bookstore guy, but that’s because I’m pretty certain he hadn’t appeared in any episodes of Secrets of the Silent Witch until now. Maybe I’m misremembering, I don’t know.
Overall, this was a very fun series, and I’m glad that I could witness it as it was coming out. While I had my icks with the schedule that ended up being used, it was still a good story overall, and I’m glad that I stuck with it. I’d love to watch more if they decide to make more, but that decision is completely up to the studio. And with this post, I can finally close the chapter of the Summer 2025 season.
