“Could you hold on a minute before you continue?”
SPOILER WARNING: This post contains spoilers from Episode 5 of A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace, as it needs to be brought up to make this writeup make sense. Please watch episodes 1 through 5 of A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace before proceeding to read this writeup.
Yeah, I know it’s weird to see me utilize one of those little boxes again, but in my defense, I purposefully didn’t reveal something that happened in Episode 5, so I’d have to add that to this post regardless of whether I wanted to or not.
And before you argue “oh, but the title’s already a spoiler!”, the title itself doesn’t make it clear who the third person is for people who don’t already have the context of the series. So checkmate!
Now, does that mean that I’m keeping the title of this episode off of the Episode 5 post? Yes. Yes it does.
But in case you couldn’t guess already by the title, yes, Nashida decides that the best move to do with her life at the moment is to crash at Futami’s place. Whether or not this is a good idea is something that will likely need to be seen as the series goes on.
In other news, Futami gets contacted by another magazine to write a series for them! But since she’s already drowning in work for one series, will she take the offer? Or will she turn it down?
I felt like this was a good episode to introduce more characters into the absolute chaos that is this world. After all, some mangakas do work on multiple series at the same time, so it’d be good to give Futami the opportunity to be that kind of mangaka, regardless of what her decision ends up becoming.
And while Futami does reach her decision in this episode, I will not spoil it in this post. After all, I think seeing how Futami gets to the decision that she makes is the most fun part of the entire episode.
Overall, I enjoyed this episode. It was a fun way to set up what is currently the new norm for Futami and Mizuki now that Nashida is staying with them, and while it fell back on Futami equating her interactions with the manga world to the world of love, I didn’t think it was too annoying, likely because there was a good pause between the last time she did this and now…that is unless I wasn’t paying enough attention.
I’m also eagerly awaiting the next episode. Maybe it’s because I associate a similar phrase to the title of the next episode with something a bit different. Ah well. I’ll see y’all here again next week.
