A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace Episode 13 – “A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace”

If I had a nickel for every single anime that I’ve watched during the Fall anime season in any year where the title of the final episode was the same as the name of the series that also had a protagonist with purple hair, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

This was absolutely unintentional, by the way. There was absolutely no way for me to have known that this would happen prior to me picking this series up and watching it to this point. If I had known that this was going to be a series that pulled that, I would’ve delayed watching this by a season just so that I wouldn’t have to make that joke. Ah well, what’s in the past is in the past.

Anyway, this episode serves as the aftermath of the events in the previous episode following the book signing event, with Futami and Sato staying the night at a hotel and visiting Futami’s parents the next day. Futami and Sato also go to a fancy restaurant to meet the editor in chief, where Futami learns how much of an impact that her manga is having on the magazine that it’s serialized in.

There’s also one final scene back at Futami’s apartment where the whole gang gets together to create the aptly titled “weirdly wonderful workplace”, but I’ll leave the finer details of what happens during that scene for you guys to find out if you decide to watch the series.

Overall, I feel like this was the perfect sendoff episode. The manga itself is still ongoing, and depending on where this episode ended, there may be the potential that there’s still enough content for a second season, assuming that the studio decides either now or later that they want to make an additional season. But even if this anime doesn’t get a second season, I still think this was a great episode to ultimately end this cour on. But considering my luck with watching shows like this, I think it’s highly likely that this won’t get a season 2.

But if this series does get a season 2, then I’d love to watch more episodes of A Mangaka’s Weirdly Wonderful Workplace. While I may not have laughed out loud at every single joke, I found a lot of the characters to be quite enjoyable, which I think ultimately carried the series for me…even if I’ve quite critical of one of the characters as of late.

Is this a perfect series? No. But is it a series that I can see myself sitting down and rewatching if I need to calm down? Hell yeah. Well, I’ll see you guys whenever I post next.
