Dead Account Episode 2 – “Miden Academy”

Woo! Episode 2 time, baby! I’m excited to talk about it! I was excited for this episode due to how Episode 1 ended, so I’m excited to be able to talk about this episode! Let’sa go!

Soji wakes up, thinking that the events of the previous episode were just a dream. They were not, however, and he sees the guy who tried to smash his phone (Kukuru Kasubata) in the room. Soji also realizes that he’s not in his room anymore, and that it looks like a room in a hot spring hotel.

Kukuru (I know he told Soji not to use the first name, but it looks so fun to say and type!) then gives Soji a tour of the building. Kukuru claims that it’s a school and not a hot spring hotel…though the tour doesn’t cause the hot spring hotel allegations to get beaten.

Anyway, the building we’re in is Miden Academy, and it’s an exorcist school. Yes, the hot spring hotel aesthetic is on purpose. And the staff here want Soji to enroll here, even with one of them talking about the history of exorcists and how they had to adapt to digital ghosts.

Soji doesn’t give a damn about it, though.

That is, until Kukuru says that the thing that killed Akari prior to her becoming a ghost wasn’t the illness. I am not going to elaborate on that front any further, you’ll have to watch the episode if you want to find out what the hell happened.

What else I will say is that this episode reveals what happens once a ghost from a ghost account gets exorcised: their account gets deleted. F in the chat for Akari’s account.

There’s also a faceoff between Kukuru and Soji, and for the plot to move forward, it seems like Soji has to begin attending Miden Academy.

I’m excited to see where the series ends up going from here. I’m happy that it seems that Akari’s story isn’t completed just yet, because it could be a good thing to help explore some of the concepts in this series, especially since it creates a good tether to Soji himself.

I feel like I made a good decision to pick up this series, though there is the chance (no matter how slim) that Episode 3 could make or break my entire opinion on this series. Just as long as I don’t feel too grossed out with the portrayal of subjects in this series, it could be great. I honestly can’t wait to see where the series goes from here!
