This episode. It was definitely on the less intense side compared to some of the earlier episodes in this season. There was still some intense stuff at the end of the episode (which I’ll save for next episode because when this goes up in my time zone, it’ll still be Valentine’s Day, the day of love!), but overall this episode was still an interesting one overall!
We do get more information on the cyberkinesis used by the remaining two of Soji’s classmates that that haven’t been given much focus. One of them uses her cyberkinesis to control dolls (or at the very least a specific kind of doll), which we learn in the episode is because she acts different when she’s gaming, when she’s usually a socially anxious wreck. So that means that while she’s in her dorm room, she’s controlling the doll to do the things that she’d normally be doing if she wasn’t a social wreck, which I think is genuinely cool.
The other person makes shields, but specifically when he’s listening to and focusing on his music. He’s playing Smells like T–
…right. Making the actual reference would probably be too risky in the perspective of copyright. So I guess instead we have Smells Like Bean Stew by Boilvana. Whatever, this reference still got a chuckle out of me. Wasn’t as unexpected as another music reference in something else I’ve watched, however. In fact, I won’t even elaborate on that other reference for the time being. Have fun trying to figure out what it is.
I didn’t get to enjoy the silliness of this reference for too long, however, as Crunchyroll decided to hand me a subtitle mistake to point out on a silver platter.
This is the kind of quality Crunchyroll’s expecting me to pay $9.99 before tax once their new prices officially go into effect? Yes, it could still be a human error, as the keys for g and n are somewhat close to each other on an English QWERTY keyboard to the point where a device could accidentally pick up on one key press before the other, but at almost ten dollars before tax, I’d expect that the subtitles are being fucking double, no, quadruple checked before they go public, which should get rid of mistakes like this. I know it’s just a simple letter swap, but misspellings still piss me off.
There really isn’t much more I can talk about until the next episode (I am not saying next week just in case this series takes a week off because of the 2026 Winter Olympics, like a series my mom’s following this anime season), so I guess I’ll see y’all then!

Next Post: Episode 7 (NOTE: I currently do not have the official English title for this episode. AS SOON AS I FIND OUT WHAT IT IS, however, I’m adding the title to this link.)
