This is the first episode since Episode 5 where I had the episode title available to me from the beginning. And since Crunchyroll has since added the titles for Episodes 6 and 7, I’ve gone back and changed the links on my posts to reflect the official titles, so if you’ve previously shared the old links, you’ll need go back and change them.
The new link for Episode 6 has the title An Encounter In The Mountains, and the new link for Episode 7 has the title The A-B Battle (which is close to what I originally had it down has! I just didn’t have the word “The”, and I had something to note down parts). Additionally, I’ve had to make new Bluesky posts for Episode 6 and Episode 7 just to ensure that those links remained up to date, so if you previously reposted my original posts, you’ll have to do yet another repost.
While I’ve since edited my posts for Episode 6 and Episode 7 on Tumblr to reflect the new titles, you will have to go back and reblog the posts again to ensure that you get the new link to your followers as well. Thankfully, if you’re on the Fediverse and you boosted my post from the instance of the site on there, I can confirm that no action is required on your part, at least on Mastodon. I cannot confirm or deny the behavior of the Fediverse reflection of the site on any other social medias in the Fediverse at the moment.
Sorry, just wanted to make that clear before I really got into this post, since this issue had plagued my Dead Account posts more heavily than my other writeups. Like, for my other shows, I just needed to read the subtitles that appeared when the episode title came up. But since Dead Account doesn’t do that, I had to get creative.
Anyway, enough talk about that, I noticed something in the opening theme this episode! I forgot if it was in the last episode or not, so it’s best that I bring it up now!
I love when anime go the extra mile in their openings and update them once a piece of key information is revealed. Seeing that they actually made this change in the opening (even if I might have been a week late to the party) was something that really made my day. I’m sorry, considering that recent news made me want to interact with things that I’m more familiar with compared to Dead Account, I got started on watching this episode later than usual.
Anyway, the episode begins where the previous episode left off, with us seeing Mr. “Listen to and focus on music to make wall” (sorry, I forgot his name) falter, but the rest of Class 1-B is like “we won’t let you fucking quit”. As Mr. Class 1-A glasses guy tries to attack again, Hasumi decides to use his cyberkinesis to send the members of Class 1-B to different parts of the town via pictures he’s taken.
Yeah, this episode revealed he can do that.
Class 1-A glasses guy goes after Kukuru and they fight. We also get some insight on the backstory of the glasses guy that just made me hate him even more. “Ooh, you’ve always got to be perfect and righteous, you’ve always gotta be right.” Shut your bitch ass up, the comments you wrote, at least based on the subtitles provided by Crunchyroll, sound like the typical comments written by people who refuse to cater their online experience to themselves and instead leave comments that boost the videos they hate in the algorithm because algorithms don’t care about the content of your comment.
“If you have time to blog, you have time to go outside” (or something like that, I’m not going to go and double check the subtitles). BASED ON WHAT I KNOW SO FAR, YOU SEEM TO BE THE LIVING PERSONIFICATION OF “RULES FOR THEE BUT NOT FOR ME”, YOU SHOULD GO OUT AND PLANT YOUR ENTIRE FUCKING BODY IN THE GRASS AND FACE THE REALITY THAT YOU SHOULD BE FOLLOWING YOUR OWN ADVICE.
*inhale*
*exhale*
Beg pardon. I normally do not get that worked up over a fictional character. I don’t know if I’m just extra sensitive when it comes to people like him or what, but I think the kind of things he said just struck me in the wrong way.
Anyway, they face off (with glasses guy even cutting everything of Kukuru’s except his flesh at one point, which I will not be showing visually here because I didn’t like seeing that part and don’t want that to be up on my socials) like the rivals they are.
Anyway, with Soji, he runs into the other ragebaiter, and this is when I get the primary source confirmation I needed to prove that this guy enjoys seeing others suffer. He straight up said he was considering torturing Soji, or something to that effect. Though I do remember torture being brought up as a word.
That also leads to my favorite screenshot from this episode (and also the only one I took from stuff that isn’t reused in every episode for this episode):

Anyway, the other ragebaiter tries to bait Soji into thinking that Kukuru isn’t going to win, and Soji gives a confident laugh like “bitch, you don’t know my classmates”.
Hasumi also runs into one of the Class 1-A students, whose cyberkinesis is based on a mobile game. We also get his story: his family’s struggling to get by and he can’t have any actual pets, but because he takes care of electronic pets that can come out of his phone, he’s offered to study at Miden Academy, due to the fact that he’d be getting paid while studying based on his skill.
Aw, that’s so sad. 😦 I feel bad for that Class 1-A student. I hope he gets a better life.
Anyway, this episode also gives us backstory for Hasumi and Kukuru (though mainly Hasumi). I won’t go into it as I think it’s a backstory that’s stronger if you go into it not knowing what to expect. All I will say is that it gives a good explanation as to why Hasumi enjoys taking pictures.
I can’t wait for the next episode. Genuinely hope these backstory drops aren’t just to pad out for time and that we still aren’t in the middle of the A-B battle once this season ends. I don’t want to have to go on a tangent about pacing.
