Ah, the title of this episode took me back to October 25th, 2025. Don’t ask why I got specific with a date. There’s nothing super significant about it, except for the fact that the power where I live went out on that day. Clearly the only reason I brought it up. Anyway, how about I talk about the episode?
It’s a windy and rainy day in Atami, with Kinme being busy in the store. During her working, Kyu and one of his friends run in to stay dry. We also get to see the newsletter that was mentioned in the previous episode. While Kyu’s friend runs off because she’s in charge of making dinner for her and her brother that night, Kyu opts to stay behind for a bit longer.
During the cleaning, however, Kinme’s power goes out. We also learn the following things about Kinme in this episode:
- Kinme’s scared of ghosts.
- Kinme’s scared of thunder and/or lightning.
- While her earliest memories are from two years ago, she’s even been forgetting memories from within that two year time frame.
While forgetting things is a natural part of being human, the way she describes it — as if “somebody who isn’t me is doing things I’m not aware of when I’m not looking” — makes me feel like Kinme’s “amnesia” isn’t just standard amnesia, but is instead the story of a DID system and an alter that didn’t start fronting until two years ago and is currently frontstuck. Please keep in mind that this isn’t confirmed in the series, so my rambling in the following paragraph is purely hypothetical and runs under the assumption that my feeling is correct.
When looking at it that way, the moments where Kinme seems to be looking out and seemingly being lost in her memories could be her temporarily gaining access to the memories of one of the other alters for a brief period of time. There’s even the potential that some of the people who know her knew her before the events that caused this to occur.
It’s interesting to see that Kinme’s house runs on natural gas, meaning she can still cook even if her power’s out. As someone whose stove runs on electricity: I’m jealous. And while using lanterns are one way to give a house light, due to where I was raised, I was honestly expecting Kinme to pull out a flashlight, turn it on, and place it to where the light’s pointing at the ceiling. Maybe lanterns is just typical for Japan.
But there’s really nothing about this episode aside from that…oh, and the fact that Kinme ran after Kyu to return his bag after washing it…but like, we all expected that to happen eventually. Even if the handoff doesn’t occur in the next episode, I think it’s heavily implied that it’ll occur off screen.
Maybe I’ll have more to say next week. I can’t really think of anything else to say here.

Next Post: Episode 10 hasn’t aired yet. Due to a prior arrangement that I have on the day this episode airs, my writeup will go up at 5:30 PM on March 9th (PST) instead of the usual 12 PM (PST). I apologize for the delay, though I’m positive that this is the final delay I will have to impose on my posts about this series.
