Meitantei Precure Episode 6 – “Miraculous Pre-Kit Mirror Loupe!”

Technically a spoiler, but we don’t even get to have a good streak of me not modifying episodes titles, because literally for the next episode, I have to use a different title than the official English title because they refuse to use interrobangs in the official English titles. Even then, the interrobang I’ll be using is formatted a bit differently than the Japanese title because it’s just how I prefer to format interrobangs. Seriously, interrobangs carry so much more weight than a standard question mark. You’ll see exactly what I mean next week.

Anyway, the episode begins with a recap of the previous episode, which is useful if you missed last week’s episode, or if you forgot what happened. This may be helpful for some viewers, but I won’t fault the staff for including this.

The new content of the episode begins with Anna and Mikuru arriving back at the CUREtto Detective Agency, and taking time to nurse Pochitan. Thankfully, Pochitan isn’t dead, as it’s still drinking milk. Anyway, you guys need to see my current favorite screenshot that has Jett in it.

A boy with yellow hair flinches as two girls run in behind him.
“What do you mean it’s only Episode 6?!”

Anyway, Anna and Mikuru have a bit of a talk. Back with the Phantom Thieves’ Guild, Nijee hasn’t returned, causing Maestro Usonoir (the big boss) to send Cure Arcana Shadow out to look for him. Mikuru runs out and encounters Nijee, who invites her to the beach (which is where Cure Arcana Shadow finds him) for a “special show”. Anna goes after Mikuru, leaving Jett with Pochitan.

With Anna and Mikuru there, they transform and begin to fight, only for Nijee to use the environment against them, because they can’t fly. But unfortunately for Nijee, the girls have the power of art and can make platforms…even if they still struggle a bit. Though Jett and Pochitan arrive, with Jett holding back the line and Pochitan delivering the new Pre-Kit tool: the Pre-Kit Mirror Loupe! With the power of Pochitan, the Pre-Kit Mirror Loupe is used to save the day! Yay! Also, the girls make up! Yay!

This episode is also where Nijee (and later the Phantom Thieves’ Guild) find out that Anna actually came to 1999 from a different time. To be honest, I was going to be so pissed if Nijee actually got the boot this episode, so the fact that the information he has allowed him to stay makes me happy. Like I’ve said before, he’s the best villain in the series from my perspective, so kicking him out now wouldn’t have been the best writing decision.

This was a fun episode overall, and I think it served as a nice conclusion to this case. And with the preview for the next episode, it seems that Anna finally gets pushed into school! Though if you consider that the episodes so far seemingly take place back to back, then it makes sense if only a couple of days have passed since the beginning of the series so far. Probably not enough time for the enforcers of compulsory education to realize “wait, this 14 year old isn’t in school”, so at least she’s getting the education now. Honestly can’t wait to see it!
