Ruri Rocks Episode 12 – “Memories Come with Rocks and Noise”

Before I continue with this writeup, I’d like to give a reminder that this is the second to last episode of the series, and next week’s episode will end Ruri Rocks‘s run during the Summer 2025 anime season. So, while this episode feels like it should be the final episode of the series, it’s not.

But this episode talks about crystal radios, which I didn’t really know existed until seeing this episode, but after seeing it, I find the concept of crystal radios to be very intriguing. Now, do I think I could make one of my own or easily find one? No. Will I research more about them? Probably not. But will I still keep the fact that they exist as a random fun fact to bring up in conversation? Most likely.

This series has made learning new things about mineralogy so fun, so I’m actually happy that I was able to pin onto something that was more intriguing to me than the other topics that Ruri Rocks has covered. Do I know why my brain staked its claim on this topic? No. But am I running with it anyway? Yup.

This episode was also a very nice way to get the whole gang together, and even get Ruri’s friend Aoi involved in this, which really helps to show how responsible she is as a character. Really makes me wish she has a bigger part in Ruri Rocks.

And the ending was genuinely so sweet, it felt exactly like the ending episode of a show like this. Though, with that postcredits scene (Imari winning a lottery) and the fact that we still got a next episode name, like I pointed out at the beginning, we still have one episode to go until this series drops its curtains.

And you know what? I’m excited to see what happens in the next episode! I suspect that it’ll be more of a chill episode that’s like “look at how far we’ve come!” than really pushing anything forward. And that’s completely fine. And even if I’m completely wrong in my guess with what vibe the episode will have? That’s still completely fine.

But man, will I miss these girls once episode 13 airs and I finish watching it. They really made my Sundays brighter, and sometimes I feel like some of Ruri’s energy goes through me once I’m done watching an episode.

So, even though the series isn’t over yet, this would definitely be a show that I recommend people watch at least once, even if this kind of show isn’t really your thing.
