Thank goodness I don’t have to do the “this isn’t the official title” thing that I did with Episode 6 of Dead Account. Sometimes writing down an episode title when you see it in an episode preview actually pays off, so that if Crunchyroll (where I’m watching) does its stupid little “Episode n” thing instead of having the actual episode title, the actual title for the episode is already in your grasp. Anyway, here we go.
The episode begins with Anna and Jett working together to clean the CUREtto Detective Agency (and Pochitan getting in the way). Mikuru comes in after finishing the paperwork to move out of her dorm (so that she doesn’t have to constantly have to return to it because curfew), and also helps out a bit with cleaning.
Anna and Mikuru then decide to investigate the second floor, to find that it needs some fixing up. There’s also a map with Os and Xs on it, which I suspect will get explained more over the course of the series. Anna and Mikuru also move into rooms in the detective agency that appear to be set up for the Star Detective Precures to use. That is currently two shows that I’ve watched that involve detectives living in the same building as their agency. Is this a common thing in Japan, or is this just something common in detective fiction like this?
We also get to see our first glimpse at the base for the Phantom Thieves, which is based in what appears to be a theater looking place, where we find out that in this episode, we’re not going to see Nijee in this episode…this will be the first episode where a character named Ageseine will be the one to be the enemy the Precures are fighting against. And, let me just say, I’m not impressed with her so far. Then again, Nijee was a strong antagonist to start with, and I think it’s going to be hard for anyone else to beat him for me.
Meanwhile, Anna and Mikuru decide to drag Jett out to go shopping for getting decorations for the CUREtto Detective Agency to be able to open it back up, which is where we get to see yet another precious object that is sure to become the target of a Phantom Thief. We do have customers come in, and then comes the inevitable disappearance of the item. While it’s easy to find, Anna and Mikuru have caught onto the fact that whenever something like this happens, a phantom thief is sure to follow.
Now, an important detail I will bring up is that one of the customers that came into the shop speaks English and does not speak Japanese. So, Jett introduces them to the PreKit Gummies, which allow someone to speak and understand any language for three minutes. And by any language, I mean any language. This episode showed Anna and Mikuru both talking to someone who speaks English and a literal cat. I am not joking.
Anyway, with a specific detail, they find the culprit, and the culprit unmasks themself as Ageseine, taking the object and leaving the store. So, they go out, Ageseine summons the Hanninda, and Anna and Mikuru transform. While there are some complications in the fight, Anna and Mikuru do end up victorious.
However, we do see a girl that looks to be around Anna and Mikuru’s age watch Ageseine, with that girl also having a fairy. Will she be important later? That’s for me to know and you to find out.
Anyway, Anna and Mikuru finish decorating the CUREtto Detective Agency, and they’re ready to take cases, with Mikuru taking Anna as her first client! I felt like this was a nice way to end the episode.
Even if I’m more drained than usual due to watching four Detective Conan episodes basically back to back, and just being tired in general, I still found myself enjoying this episode. Hell, I’d say that I’m going to stick around for more Meitantei Precure. There are still some questions that I have about what’s been introduced so far, and the only way I can guarantee that I’ll get the answers is if I stick around. Can’t wait to see more.
