When I was figuring out which of my simulcasts to review for the blog, I was stuck between this show and another one that just so happened to have “Another World” in the title. I ended up deciding to do this one because of the children. …I may or may not have a weakness for small, cute characters. Heck, I had even decided BEFORE Crunchyroll revealed their big simulcast list that I wanted to watch this show! So, enough with the dilly-dally! Time to get down into the details of this show’s first episode!
The episode begins with the protagonist already in the other world, giving narration about how he ended up in this world in the first place. As it turns out, a god got a bit too silly (applied too much force) when fixing an error in the time-space continuum, and accidentally killed Takumi, our protagonist. YAY! The god (Syl) decides to give the protagonist another chance at life by reincarnating them in the world that they have dominion over, granting him knowledge of the language and some skills. This world is similar to that of a JRPG, as Takumi can view his stats.
After beating up some red wolves, Takumi hears some rustling just to find two kids! Takumi attempts to talk to them, but they shy away from him. He gains their trust by giving them food after hearing their stomachs, and there is also a delivery of clothing for the kids. Huh. Isn’t that convenient! Anyway, they also conveniently don’t have names, so Takumi decides to name them Alan and Elena. He then decides to lead the two, intending to find a town. He goes slow because he thinks the kids can’t go fast…but then they run forward and kill some monsters!
Yeah, these kids aren’t your average kids. But it feels a bit too convenient that they’re this strong. Eh, maybe everything’s gonna get explained with time. But Takumi is like “Yeah, um, if you see monsters, let me know first.” The kids agree and even do as he asks…but they take care of the monster without even letting Takumi get a hit in. Good going kids!
However, the three manage to get to a town that is on the other side of the forest…and it just so happens that the forest Takumi is only supposed to be visited by A-Rank adventurers or above…but Takumi never ran into monsters he couldn’t defeat. Isn’t that convenient? Of course, to be able to get in, Takumi comes up with the cover that they were looking for herbs. Of course, IDs become an issue, but it appears they can be granted temporary ones if they come up clean after holding a sphere, which thankfully the three do.
The first stop that the three make in town is a church/chapel area, where Takumi begins praying and talking to Syl. Syl says that he’s not allowed to talk about the kids, but a little slip of his tongue reveals that the gods have SOMETHING to do with the kids, making everything that seemed a little too “convenient” suddenly make sense through the lens of divine intervention! YAY!
The three then head to an inn to spend the night, with the two kids having fun on the bed, tiring themselves out. The next day, when Takumi and the kids wake up, Takumi gets to hear their voices for the first time! They then stop by the guild, where they get permanent IDs and register as a party, because apparently kids that haven’t even hit the double digits can be registered as adventurers in this world, being named White Wings! They grab their first mission, which is to gather some herbs! Takumi teaches them the proper way, after which the kids run off to do the same thing. They end up collecting a lot of herbs and get their payment, but at that time, a man comes up and is angry at the fact they’re there, scaring Alan and Elena. Takumi is trying to figure out how to solve it without violence, but he gets grabbed, and…

…yeah. Thankfully, it appears the kids won’t get into trouble as a witness interpreted it as “legitimate self-defense”, and at that moment, the guard that Takumi and the kids talked to came onto the scene…but before that, we gotta let Takumi comfort the kids! But after that, we get a proper introduction to the knight who let Takumi, Alan, and Elena in. Vault’s a cool dude, because he appointed Takumi as Alan and Elena’s guardian…after a conversation involving how Takumi met the kids in the first place.
Of course, when Takumi talked about how he fought monsters in the Forest of Gaia, the person who helped him got excited, causing Takumi to sell some red wolf meat for a good chunk of money. We then find out why Vault visiting’s the guild…oh, and he’s also volunteering Takumi for a quest that’s usually limited to A-rank adventurers. Fun! Vault then goes and has his conversation, giving his recommendation of Takumi. Only time will tell if–
Wait, what do you mean the second episode is already out?! I’ll review it later…and by “later”, I mean “tomorrow”, because I don’t have enough energy to watch AND review two episodes in one day. Guess I better get to wrapping up this write-up then.
This premiere was fun, and it seemed to catch the chill vibes well. The way the story is being handled is cool, and I hope we get more expansion on what the gods are doing. The story seems to be going off in an interesting direction, and I’m all for it! Can’t wait to see the next episode ne–tomorrow. I know I already pointed out that the episode’s already out, but I’m doing these reviews at MY pace.
