I literally cannot think up of a good way to lead into this post that actually connects to this episode. Yeah, I try to have some semblance of connection to the episode when I do these sections, but sometimes I just…can’t. Sorry. Anyway, I’ll see just how well I can talk about this episode.
This episode begins with showing how the non-zombie Rindou brother (look, this is literally the only way I’m remembering which one is which at the moment, I literally can’t be bothered to remember their names right now) gained his information about Ogami. It’s a genuinely interesting scene, and it showed just how prepared these guys were.
When we get back to the present timeline, we see Ogami and the non-zombie Rindou brother talk. During this, Ogami comes up with an absolutely insane cover story. I can’t recall every single detail exactly, but it basically boils down to Ogami being a secret child of his adult self and another woman, and when his adult self ran out on him, he chose to take his own father’s name and follow the same path to exact revenge or something. Look, I already warned you that I didn’t recall the exact details, so that last part may be inaccurate.
This manages to cause the non-zombie Rindou brother to feel bad for Ogami, and reveal that prior to what happened to cause the brothers to become how they are, the non-zombie brother liked magic tricks and the zombie Rindou brother liked sports. Then the incident occurred.
…I have no clue what the incident is, I just wanted to make that paragraph end ominously, please do not spoil me for the manga.
However, during the clash, we also get to learn what the non-zombie Rindou brother can do: hypnosis. There’s a security guard that was hypnotized by him, as well as a crowd of civilians outside and even some first responders.
Also, Ogami gets hypnotized to prevent his body from attacking either of the Rindou brothers. Fun. All because hypnosis Rindou brother (yes, something less clunky than non-zombie Rindou brother now!) can also disguise himself and imitate voices, and has even done enough research into Ogami’s life to know who he’s hanging out with. Ouch.
During all of this, Tenma and the zombie Rindou brother duke it out with sports. Specifically, soccer balls and exploding golf balls. Waow. Sports. Very good, very good.
Anyway, Ogami does something that involves him setting something up and also doing something that I doubt any reasonable human could do, but it’s okay because it’s anime! Pew, pew, pew!
All because Ogami chose to use a moment that could’ve been his end to request that ultimately bought him time.
Anyway, let’s just say there’s a good reason why some specific items were brought up last week, even if I didn’t highlight them in my post. And after that brawl, a revelation is made that has Ogami rushing back in Noren’s direction…
This definitely feels like it’s building up to having next week’s episode be the conclusion of this arc, but I could be wrong. After all, we’ve already met every single major character shown in the animations for the theme songs, and we don’t have enough episodes to fit in another arc, if my gauge of the pacing is correct. Unless they end this season with an immediate confirmation for season 2, I’m afraid that the ending for this season could be unsatisfactory. Maybe I’m overthinking it. Maybe my expectations for this series are just way too high. I just hope that this series does well in its remaining episodes this anime season.
