“Could you hold on a minute before you continue?”
CONTENT WARNING: This write up includes descriptions of attempted suicide. (One character gets in position to attempt to kill themself, but another character manages to stop them before they can follow through.)
This is a friendly reminder that you are loved.
Experimenting with how I do my content warning notices to have them take up less room and look a bit more visually interesting than how I had them before. Once I’m done getting the pages for my site all nicely interlinked, my next step will likely be getting all of the content warnings and spoiler warnings updated to use this one instead of the one that I’ve been using until now.
Anyway, hey, the chalkboard that has the episode title included the English words in caps like this, I think it really settles in just how serious this episode is for Ogami. How could I not put it in caps like the Japanese title does? And while this is another episode with hypnotized Noren, the absolute absurdity of this episode was enough for me to power through.
Yeah, an episode is good if there was something leading into it that I was dreading only for the contents of the episode to make me enjoy the episode way too much despite my initial groaning.
We start with an interaction between Chisato and Tenma, where we see what ridiculous story was spun up to hide the fact that Tenma and Ogami fought assassins from her.
So, yes, Noren is still stuck under hypnosis, and this episode shows just the measures Ogami is willing to go to just to evade interacting with Noren in this state. After an interaction with Chisato’s brother, we get Noren coming in, and what I consider to be the funniest way that Ogami avoided her.

(While I watched this episode on Netflix, I got these screenshots from Crunchyroll since I don’t like trying to mess with Netflix’s UI to get screenshots.)
Anyway, after that, we get more wacky hijinx with Ogami trying to evade Noren, with Ogami even showing off his athletics. Though I will give Noren credit: being able to keep up with Ogami in a chase isn’t something just anyone can do.
When Noren catches up with Ogami outside of the school, she’s about to talk romantically to him, which Ogami decides “nope, we’re doing this elsewhere.” They go to the roof, where she gives her thoughts, and he politely turns her down…
only for the hypnosis to have her decide that the logical answer after that is to try and jump off of the roof.
Yeah, does that content warning that I included at the beginning make more sense now? And while I did kind of spoil how this wraps up in that content warning (Ogami stopping Noren):
- It’s necessary for the story to continue, as there was no way they were going to kill Noren.
- The last time I warned about attempted suicide, the person actually followed through with their attempt. I felt like I needed to specify here that the person didn’t manage to follow through here as a sort of clarification.
After saving her from death, however, Ogami gets a phone call from the hypnosis Rindou brother, to which Ogami rightfully goes “how much longer until you transfer here so you can undo Noren’s hypnosis?”, to which we find out that he can’t transfer yet due to his injuries…but he’s willing to arrange a meeting with Ogami early to undo it.
Ogami manages to get Noren to come along by convincing her that it’s a date in Yokohama. Yes Ogami, utilize the current state Noren is in to your advantage for non-perverted reasons! Before they can even stop by the location they’re supposed to meet the hypnosis Rindou brother, however, Noren decides to drag Ogami to a cup noodle museum. Yes, it’s a real location (or at least based on a real location) you could visit IRL if you so desire.
After getting roped into the cup noodle antics (which involves Noren making some spicy ramen), Ogami realizes there’s still time to make it to where they’re supposed to go: an amusement park. While there, though, Noren decides that she wants to ride the ferris wheel. Ogami decides to go along with it, but when the romantic tension gets to be too high, Ogami decides to shoot the door of the cabin (I think that’s what it’s called?) open to get Noren to feel more scared than romantic.
Well, at least it wasn’t a roller coaster.
When stepping off, two staff members approach to help them out, but one of those staff members is actually the hypnosis Rindou brother in disguise, and he uses the opportunity to undo the hypnosis on both Ogami and Noren, with the hypnosis Rindou brother saying that the next time that they’ll meet is when the brothers transfer to Ogami’s school.
In the post credits scene, we see Noren wake up, and Ogami tests to see if the hypnosis actually got undone by asking Noren if she likes him. Seeing her react like usual, though, Ogami is happy.
Okay, so there’s two episodes left for the episodes that we are supposed to get this anime season, and there’s been a cast announcement for another character, which likely means they’re going to be introduced in the next episode. Just as long as the conclusion to this cour is satisfying (or it’s a cliffhanger with instant confirmation of season 2), I’ll be happy.
Fun episode that managed to beat up what makes me groan with the absurdity. Can’t wait for next week.
Also, it’s nice to see the WordPress AI (at least on my end) is either gone or hidden so well I can’t find it.
