Oh boy, we’re truly in the endgame for this series now. This is the penultimate episode. Holy shit. I’m sorry, just like the previous episode, I cannot think of anything major to lead into this post, but at least I have something. After all, there is always only one penultimate episode in a series.
We find out at the beginning of the episode that Victoria (and Nonna!) have headed to the kingdom of Randall, now living under the identities of Maria and Lyle. To be honest, I like Nonna living under a masculine identity. While yes, girls are still very much allowed to be more energetic and the like, having Nonna take on a masculine identity would allow things about her that may previously raise eyebrows when it comes to her identifying as a girl.
These new identities also have them wear wigs. Good choice, in my opinion. I always wondered why Victoria opted to just have her natural hair out when heading to Ashbury, but at least there’s more put into the disguise here. The two have plans to leave in the spring, though they have someone who’s willing to house them right now. Victoria and Nonna do take the wigs off in private, so there’s no need to worry about whether or not I’ll be forgetting their names.
There’s sheep. Lots of sheep. But not only did Nonna get to see a sheep give birth, she also got to make a blanket-looking thing that later got sold to a store. They do leave when spring comes around, but it was honestly such a sweet thing to be able to see play out.
There are also scenes from Jeff’s point of view, even dating back to prior when Victoria’s perspective of events. Here, the legal force of Ashbury find out about Victoria’s true identity due to members of the organization she was from coming to try and assassinate her. But I’m guessing because of some medicine, a member of that organization was required to tell the truth.
Jeff does eventually manage to figure out where Victoria had gone after his own investigation, but when he does finally make it to where Victoria had been, it’s too late because Victoria and Nonna have already left.
Because of how similar the endings of this episode and the last episode are, I think I have an idea of how the next episode will play out. We’ll see another identity of Victoria and Nonna’s with more cuts to Jeff’s perspective, but this time, instead of Jeff failing to make it in time before she leaves for the next kingdom. Now, I could still be completely wrong and the next episode plays out completely differently. But since it’s the final episode, I don’t see many other ways for the series to end. Genuinely hope that the next episode provides a satisfying conclusion, no matter what it ends up being.
