Sara Talks Anime

Yes, I know that the image I’m using is the same one that I made for last year’s post, but since I’m going to be a bit more chill on content this anime season, I figured that I shouldn’t take the effort to make a new drawing for the post if I feel like the plans that I’m announcing don’t really feel like they equate to needing a new image. Now, you may be wondering “what news do you consider to be worth less than making a new image for your plans post?”

I’ll tell you exactly what’s worth less than a new image: I am not adding any new writeups to my schedule.

In case you haven’t noticed, my writeups that aren’t about Detective Conan have become…lackluster. I think that me trying to balance doing so many writeups alongside everything else in my life is starting to burn me out. To try and fight back against this, I won’t be picking up any new simulcasts to do for writeups in the Fall 2026 anime season.

Notice a very important distinction there. For writeups. I don’t want to be completely empty on new simulcasts just because I’m not doing any for writeups. While I am picking up two new simulcasts that aren’t continuing from simulcasts I picked up in previous seasons, these are for fun simulcasts, not review simulcasts.

The two new simulcasts I’m picking up are Dragon Ball Super Beerus and Paw & Palaces. With the former, it’s both to remind me of what’s happening in Dragon Ball Super before the next story and out of curiosity to see how they manage to squeeze all the content that was included in one of its trailers. With the latter, since I’ve announced that I’m moving my Meitantei Precure writeups to Mondays, I want to give this anime a taste test to see if it’s actually something I’d enjoy watching, or if the cats aren’t enough to keep me hooked.

I’m also going to be watching season 3 of MAPPA’s take on Ranma 1/2, though this is done as a mini-writeup series that I do on my account on the Fediverse (@ash_plavell) instead of a full-blown simulcast writeup done on site.

That means that the two writeups you will be getting in the Fall 2026 anime season are Meitantei Precure writeups on Mondays and Sara Watches Detective Conan posts on Wednesdays. Yes, what I was originally doing to fill time after the awkward end spot for Victoria of Many Faces because it felt weird for me to retire a time slot after only nine episodes is also being carried into the Fall 2026 anime season.

Even then, Meitantei Precure writeups aren’t a guarantee for sticking around through the entire Fall 2026 anime season. I’ve made the decision that if I get to episode 40 of Meitantei Precure and the series still doesn’t feel to me like it’s improving from where it currently is, then I’m dropping it. It really sucks, because I feel like this series showed so much promise at the start, only to feel like it’s currently falling flat on its face. I still stand by the belief that Episode 18 was the best of the series, and even then, that’s likely in part due to the fact that Detective Conan was involved in it.

So literally, our only absolute guarantee for writeups that stick around this season is Sara Watches Detective Conan. Hope y’all like Conan Edogawa, as if I have to drop Meitantei Precure during this season, he’s what you’re exclusively going to see here for a while.

Will need to check back in closer to the end of the Fall 2026 anime season, but at the moment I’m feeling like I’ll be spending the first half of the 2027 anime year (in terms of writeups) focusing more on stuff that are continuations of stuff I covered in previous seasons so that I can focus on writeups where I’m not needing to figure out the baseline of a series as I’m watching it. While I may still pick up some new simulcasts for fun during that time, I probably won’t be actively posting about them, so that I can remember why I even fell in love in anime with the first place, instead of focusing on finding things in the story that I think make no sense.

Basically: expect me to be back to my regular simulcast pickups and postings during the Summer 2027 anime season, unless things change enough during either the Fall 2026, Winter 2027, or Spring 2027 seasons to justify me going back to doing completely new simulcast writeups early. I just want to take a bit to cool off and focus my writeup attention on things that I have more of an expectation on how they’re supposed to go before diving back into the deep-end. I feel like I was driving too fast for too long regarding content, and I need time to just slow down and have a smaller scope.
