It’s another Sunday, meaning it’s review day for me! This week continues the story of Grandpa and Grandma’s honeymoon, and it’s certainly an interesting one, even when you don’t factor in the little oddities of this series. But that’s enough about that, let’s jump into the review!
The episode begins with the group arriving in Atami, with Grandpa and Grandma crying tears of joy. The four arrive at the hotel they will be staying at, with everyone except Grandma shocked at the open-air bath. Later, Grandpa tries to hint to Grandma that he wants to go in the bath with her…and she ends up going in with Mino. Grandpa ends up sitting in a cold bath, with Shouta telling him that he’ll get sick.
Of course, the food also catches them by surprise, and they enjoy it. Grandma pours Grandpa some alcohol, with the first one just being gulped. Mino talks to Shouta regarding something that happened earlier, and how they probably wouldn’t be here if Shouta wasn’t with them. Grandpa gets a second little cup of his beverage, and he gives instructions for something for Shouta and Mino to replicate using their non-alcoholic beverages. The two do replicate it, being confused.
That night, we see Shouta and Mino sleeping in the same room, due to Mino pointing out that it’s weird for Grandpa and Grandma to not sleep together on their honeymoon. They engage in a conversation, which evolves into them imitating Grandpa and Grandma, which evolves into them calling each other by name…and then Mino quickly realizes that they should get some rest.
With Grandpa and Grandma, we see that Grandpa has already fallen asleep, likely due to the alcohol he had earlier. His dream begins with him being in a bath with Grandma…but it seems like the alcohol is messing with his dream because it turns out Grandma is actually the hourglass! WHOOPS! Despite now being in his old appearance, Grandpa still decides to go to the seawater bath…which is just the beach.

Seriously, with this and everything else we see in the episode, I refuse to believe that the “seawater bath” wasn’t supposed to be the beach. Maybe this is some kind of cultural thing that I’m not getting because I’m a gosh darn American, but for me, the beach is always the beach.
Anyway, Grandpa challenges Shouta to a swimming race, which the two undertake. Grandpa is fast, being able to beat Shouta. While the two were racing, Mino and Grandma sat down under the shade of an umbrella on the shore. The group continues to spend time together, enjoying typical beach activities because this is the beach episode!
We do get a conversation between Grandpa and Grandma about how they never could’ve done this when the kids were younger due to how sick Grandma had gotten, which is not something you’d expect to be in a beach episode. Later, Shouta got him and Mino drinks…with Mino figuring out through the power of the internet what the meaning of what Grandpa got them to do was.
Back in the hotel, Mino and Shouta start up a ping-pong rally together, never managing to get above 20. When Grandpa and Grandma walk in, Mino invites them to try…and the two are so in sync, it’s no wonder that they’re a couple! And their rally goes on for a while in-universe…not that long out of universe. Praise be to the gods of fiction for allowing time skips, regardless of how big or small, to exist!
*Ahem* Anyways…Grandpa and Grandma have a bath in the open-air bath like they planned to do the previous night. The two have a heartfelt conversation, as per usual.
But enough focusing on the inn and the beach, let’s go to a jinja! While there, Grandpa makes a wish on an ema tablet…that he seems to want to hide. Mino and Shouta also make wishes of their own, and while they seem to be truthful with what their wishes are, the audience gets to see a wish that Mino wrote on the back of her ema tablet.

C’mon Mino…who is it? Is it Shouta? I bet based off of context that it’s Shouta.
Okay, I need to stop getting off track. So, to get back on track, Grandma investigates Grandpa’s ema tablet, seeing the visible wish…and then flips it to the other side, which Grandpa was hoping wouldn’t get seen…and we get to see his actual wish. It’s actually super sweet.
We also get to see a tree which Mino states to be a power spot, and that if you walk in a circle around it, a year would get added to your life. Grandpa and Grandma are determined to go around it, and Mino and Shouta end up going around as well. Grandma catches the two brushing hands, wishing for great-grandchildren…and Shouta launches over to the side, seemingly overwhelmed by emotion.
The two engage in conversation, and it’s rather wholesome, giving a flashback as well. After the credits, there’s a scene showing why Grandpa and Grandma didn’t go on their honeymoon originally…Grandpa had inherited his father’s debt, and after doing everything they could to pay it off, they didn’t have enough money to do the honeymoon. We see them on the train heading back, and they’re welcomed back as if they were gone for decades.
Overall, I enjoyed this episode and the little honeymoon arc that was traveled on. The interactions between characters were super fun, and I’m excited to see what happens next week…especially after seeing the preview! The preview itself says that there’s other people who turned young again! Man, I cant’ wait to see who they are…
