Depending on how some experimenting that I do later this week goes, this may be the final episode of Wash It All Away that I watch on the Nintendo Switch Crunchyroll app. Due to how long the loading time on there has gotten, I fear that as time marches on, I may need to spend more time waiting for the app to load than I may end up feeling comfortable with due to how seemingly out of date the app is apart from the updating library. This isn’t the only series I’ve been regularly watching via the Nintendo Switch Crunchyroll app: I’m currently watching Detective Conan via it as well, and I’ve previously watched several shows on it as well, to the point where trying to list some would only result in a partial list since I can’t recall all of them. Due to being clear about this, however, I’ll likely highlight next week whether I switched to a different method to watch Wash It All Away on a bigger screen or not.
I know I didn’t have to bring that up since I hardly bring up which OS I use to watch Crunchyroll a lot of the time (if at all), but considering the fact that there’s currently been no news from Crunchyroll regarding whether there’ll be a Switch 2 version of the app (or even an update that re-optimizes the current app while making it available for Switch 2) aside from “we’ve got nothing yet, but we’re always looking to expand to new platforms”, I think it may be good to make it clear that I’m technically on an outdated experience, even if my family hasn’t upgraded to the Nintendo Switch 2 yet.
Anyway, time for me to actually talk about the episode instead of dedicating it to what OS I use.
This week’s episode had two stories that were kind of connected together with the characters. Well, time for me to pull out the section titles again.
Proper Cleaning
The episode starts with Kinme getting on a train, with a high schooler running onto the train before it can take off. Kinme then witnesses improper handling of clothes (using standard household chemicals on clothes instead of ones intended for clothes, for example) that comes to its peak when she sees this person use a binder clip to close their shirt when a button popped off. Once off the train, Kinme fixes the button for free, causing the girl she was talking to to point out that her clothes…aren’t really kept in the best condition due to the girl and her brother don’t really know how to fix them up.
Kinme decides to visit their place just to see the exact condition of their place.
After learning that this person only does their laundry about three times a month or so, Kinme decides that she needs to fix things, teaching the girl how to properly take care of her clothes with items she can easily find around the house that aren’t as dangerous as common household sprays, and even teaches the girl how to find out how to properly wash her clothes.
Meanwhile, Kyu is walking with a friend of his back to that friend’s place…and as it turns out, that friend is the brother of the girl that Kinme is interacting with, and he walked in on Kinme doing her teaching. Whoops…?
At the very least, Kinme has a new piece of clothing to wash! But now, that takes us to…
Festival Preparations
Yup, the festival’s getting mentioned again. Nairo brought more items for Kinme to wash, and since it’s close to time for Kinme to close her store for the day, Nairo invites her to her practice for the festival! Conversation gets done during the festival, and eventually the need to get out the outfits.
…only one problem. The outfits are moldy now due to storage below a leak. Kinme (with the help of Kyu, the girl she helped earlier, and that girl’s brother) end the episode getting the boxes of the outfits to wash them!
Episode 5 will likely start with us seeing a bit of the process of Kinme cleaning the outfits. Then, it’ll likely be either be after the ad break that marks the midpoint of the episode or at the start of Episode 6 when we get to see the festival itself. There’s no way that they’d do all that and not eventually show us the actual festival. The mid-point of an anime season is typically when something important happens, so it’d make sense to reserve the festival for the midpoint of the season. But this is a fun episode! I’m honestly excited to see where it goes from here!
