Wash it All Away Episode 6 – “Pop, Pop, Boom”

I apologize if anything about this post is structured weirdly, or if it’s shorter even by my usual standards. I began writing this post on my phone, for reasons that I wish not to get into.

Anyway, woohoo! I loved this week’s episode of Wash It All Away. Even if this series chooses to remain in comfy territory, it was a nice episode for the halfway point of the cour, as I believe it was confirmed that Wash It All Away is only 12 episodes long for this season.

While there really wasn’t a big dramatic scene where Kinme regained a memory, there was a scene that seems to imply that even if she doesn’t remember cleaning a specific object prior to losing her memory, she still seemed to have in muscle memory what to do to clean the object. Which…that’s close enough for me. Even if she doesn’t remember anything new from prior to when she lost her memories, the fact that her body can act on knowledge from prior to her memory loss (even if she doesn’t remember that knowledge) is still significant in my eyes.

We also get to work to Kinme seeing more fireworks, as well as seeing the girl of the high schooler friend group (I’m sorry, I’m blanking on her name and I’m too tired to look it up) at work. I felt this was a nice way to wrap the episode up, even if I felt kinda bad for her brother in the post-credits scene.

I can’t really think of anything else to say about the episode itself, but since this post feels too short compared to my usual standards, I’d like to provide my thoughts on the series as a whole at this point, due to us being at the halfway point now.

If you’re looking for dramatic reveals during the series, this is not the show for you. This is one of those comfy shows that builds an atmosphere and is really intended to help you wind down. While reveals aren’t dramatic, they are nicely woven into the narrative to where they don’t feel out of place. While the conflict may just be a girl working at her shop and helping people wash their fabrics to ensure they can continue to carry the memories of their owners, it works perfectly here. If you need to wind down after something particularly hard, this is the perfect series for you.

…I don’t know if my series wide thoughts have changed much, if at all, since I last shared them. But I don’t really have the energy to think about writing further at the moment. Sorry. Hopefully my next posts make up for it. Especially a post I’ve got scheduled for Saturday at a time a post wouldn’t usually go up.

Previous Post: Episode 5 – “I Have A Feeling…”

Next Post: Episode 7 hasn’t aired yet. Assuming that no delays occur, it should go up on February 16th at 12 PM (PST).
