I’ve probably done this bit enough times, but I am being 100% serious when I say the following: please pardon my swearing, but what the fuck. /pos

I know I can say that quite often about the episodes of shows that I watch, but I think it’s genuinely needed here this time. Trust me, you’ll understand once you reach me covering the ending, as it’s something that I genuinely believe is crazy.

Anyway, we start the episode on a shot of a bird. Yay, establishing shot for scenery, I guess? We then go back to the place of the fight, where Kurea gets closer and says “I remember everything”. I’m guessing this scene is for the people who missed the episode last week who couldn’t watch it via on demand so that they can get caught up on who Cure Eclair is. Which, if it is for that purpose, I think it did a good job.

As Kurea looks at Luluka, Pochitan returns to Jett and Mashutan, with Shushutan joining them. We also get to see the Phantom Thieves reacting to the fact that Kurea is Cure Eclair, as well as the fact that Goemon kept the fact that Kurea could enter the barrier from them. Congratulations, Goemon, on keeping information from your teammates.

And, yes, the barrier stuff gets properly established after being just a throwaway comment earlier: only fairies or people with fairies can be in there unless brought inside by fairies. Cool, nice that we’re finally having it be less of a throwaway comment brought up one time.

We also learn that Usonoir doesn’t seem to care about the identities of the Precures from Agesiene saying it (which is fair because Usonoir is currently a raging monster), and Shushutan is like “use your powers together-shu!”, and so the four Cures take turns transforming. First the Anna and Mikuru duo transformation, then Luluka’s transformation, and while we get some scenes where they fight Usonoir beforehand, we also get to see Kurea transform!

If you need a tier list of what I think about the transformations:

Luluka’s transformation into Cure Arcana Shadow and Kurea’s transformation into Cure Eclair were both wonderful! They proved how you can have a gimmick with your transformation item that doesn’t feel like it’s just there to buy time for the episode in a place that feels acceptable! I feel like Anna and Mikuru’s transformation would’ve been a lot better if it was the Mirror Loupe that allowed them to transform and the watch that allowed them to attack (the watch even already has the ability to let them use solo attacks, they wouldn’t be losing that!), as I feel like that both fits in with the detective theme more and wouldn’t have a gimmick for the item that feels like it’s only there to pad time.

Oh well, what’s done is done.

Anyway, do not mess with Cure Eclair. She is strong…even if it comes at the cost of needing to limit that power so that she doesn’t wear herself out. Girl is literally a glass cannon, even if her powers look cool. 😦

She does get tired, so Answer, Mystique, and Arcana Shadow have to hold Usonoir back just long enough for Cure Eclair to recover. When she does, though, she uses her finisher, which is something that’s super cool. Really hope we get to see more of it in the future, maybe even in combination with Answer and Mystique’s Flying Spectrum.

During the fight, though, we find out that this is only Cure Eclair’s second transformation, meaning her first one had to be when the Makoto Jewel got shattered. Jeezus…

After the fight…oh boy, where do I begin?

Okay, first, the phantom thieves take the puppy Usonoir back to their base and take down the barrier.

And now, the stuff that’s actually having me go “what the fuck”. Eclair still calls Arcana Shadow by her original Cure name of “Arcana”, only for Arcana Shadow to be like “she’s gone, I’m what’s left”. Yes Arcana Shadow, go!

Anna, Mikuru, Kurea, and Jett meet up with Rei and Eriza, where Eriza finds out that Pochitan can speak. Shiruku doesn’t get to face them face to face, but she had a more important duty.

Kurea goes to the CUREtto Detective Agency with Anna, Mikuru, and Jett. When Anna brings out tea for four but only picks up on 3 (including herself) who can have tea, they go down to Jett’s lab and see that he’s taken Usonoir’s big body, trying to figure out how it works. There’s also a star in it that glows purple. I wonder if that means anything…

Also, Kurea learns that Anna’s from the future. Anna mindset literally being “ah yes, you’re a Precure now, you can learn my secret”, which Kurea is reasonably surprised by.

And now, the part of the ending that prompted this.

The phantom thieves are back at their base, with Nijee, Agesiene, and Goemon consoling Usonoir. Only for Luluka to appear in an area watching them and proclaiming that Usonoir made three mistakes.

1. Using Cure Eclair’s Makoto Jewel.
2. Misreading the Tome of Mirages and assuming that the king meant him.
3. The reason why Luluka joined the phantom thieves guild, was to get Cure Eclair’s Makoto Jewel…because she wanted to destroy it.

She then transforms and is like “if we don’t take down the Precure, there’s no future.”, and we even see one of the lilies that bloomed to plant the idea of using the scent of it to find Cure Eclair fall.

I’m going have to see if we get more moments of those lilies falling, and if so, document every single one of them. What if those are a countdown towards the next big event? I gotta pay attention to those little details.

I’m so happy that Cure Arcana Shadow didn’t do a heel-face turn because Cure Eclair is back. Please remain this way for the rest of the series, Cure Arcana Shadow. You are way too fun as a villain to redeem.

I’m just going to have to…not look up any Meitantei Precure stuff until I’ve seen the next episode, as if I’m reading vibes correctly, then the next episode is going to be very important.
