What the fuck.
That’s it, that’s the post, you can go–
Haha, you actually think I’d do such a short post? I’m sorry, I just need some way to process my feelings about this episode because holy fucking shit. That ending. That freaking ending. I’m fucking terrified for Episode 12. I’m sorry I’m using the f word so much in this post, but I don’t think you guys would fully understand how I feel about this episode without that usage. Anyway…
“Mommy’s House Isn’t Scary” and “Little Sisters Aren’t Scary?”
I’m combining these two segments into one section here because they are much more highly connected to each other than the third segment. Hell, to keep the title for this segment on one line, I had to use 1.44 rem(~23.04 px) size instead of my usual 1.5 rem (~24 px) as I didn’t really want to have this leak onto a separate line. That means that, yes, the title for the next section will also use the 1.44 rem font.
Anyway, Chie, Nana, and Kaya go to the Ebisumori house. The story they’re using is that they’re visiting the grave of Kaya’s grandma. Mob and Namu are also there, Mob because it involves Kaya, and Namu because it involves Mob.
While Kaya is left to play outside, Chie, Nana, Mob, and Namu decide to go inside and talk about what happened. As was shown in the end of the previous episode, Kaya’s grandma had something that said to pass all curses on to her. One that actually worked, as Nana admitted that the thing she made was basically nothing more than a trinket. But due to the spirit of Kaya’s grandmother not appearing straight away, Mob and Namu knew that meant that Kaya’s grandmother died because of a curse. And the curse was because of Kaya’s mom.
The second segment is where we learn about how the Ebisumori family works: the eldest daughter is a shrine maiden, and the younger daughters are raised with the intent to eventually do some thing that also results in their death. I’m sorry, I’m still too shaken by the ending to fully remember the terminology used. We also learn more about Spirit Germentation (or however you spell it, I’m sorry, I want to make sure I get this finished while it’s still fresh on my mind) and how it worked.
The Ebisumori Family Isn’t Scary?
Unlike the previous two segments of this episode, this segment is from Mirai’s point of view. We start with backstory that explains that she’s been oblivious to what her purpose is, and gets bullied in school because of her heritage. When she needs to grab a book that was previously owned by her aunt, she finally found out the truth, and decided to head out and try to take the Ebisumori family down using the same techniques they use.
Hell, technically spoilers, but I don’t think the next episode can occur without this, but she leaves the fucking hospital while she’s supposed to be under their care. I’m scared. I’m literally so fucking scared. Next week’s episode better have a satisfying conclusion because how can you end with that and not expect me to be terrified.
So, uh, yeah, I will not be fine for the remainder of the anime season. Good job Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary, you aren’t even done, and I already feel like you’ve impacted me as heavily as a previous anime I watched as a simulcast. You better keep this up next week.
