Kill Blue Episode 5 – “There’s A Unicorn Up Ahead”

Me when I’m killing the blue or something. Look, I’m sorry, I can’t think of anything particularly gripping to lead into this post. I sat on this post for several hours trying to think of something, and I can’t.

Anyway, remember last week when we learned about the Unicorns? We met one of them today: Tenma! He’s a sports boy who’s good in multiple sports. Yeah. The fact that the Unicorns are skilled isn’t an understatement. Just…man, good luck Ogami. Considering the end of the episode, you’re gonna need it.

Anyway, with Ogami, it’s now test season! You know what that means…club activities get canceled for the week, and Ogami is ready to have food…

…only for Neko guy (that’s just what I’m gonna call him from now on, sorry, I don’t have the patience to constantly look up his name when I want to refer to him) to need to be busy elsewhere, and thus needing Ogami to go elsewhere to get his dinner that night.

That location is one that’s run by people who are…crossdressing, to use a version of the word used in the show’s subtitles on Netflix. Their designs put me off a bit, and I’ll be honest: I genuinely hope this doesn’t become a super recurring place in the series. Don’t get me wrong, if you want to crossdress, that’s completely fine and fair! But there are just some instances in anime where the crossdressing feels off to me, and this was just one of those moments. Gonna try and not hold it against the show, though.

Eri’s also stops by there, and she and Ogami and her have a bit of a conversation while there. Noren only really gets to see the part where he walks in alone and then walks out with Eri, but who knows what conclusion she jumps to.

I forgot when exactly it got put in, so I’m going to bring it in here because I don’t think there’s going to be any better place for me to put it, but during the midterms, Ogami stays up all night studying, while Noren gets a good night’s sleep because everyone’s more focused on their midterms than her.

Once the midterms are done, however, club activities resume, and the home ec club does its regular things, with one of their activities being making riceballs as a snack for the members of the baseball team. There was also a button fixing activity before that, but I’m personally still unsure how that currently ties into things.

But as it turns out, Tenma is a member of the baseball team, and during that time delivering snacks, challenges Ogami to a game of futsal (today I learned that is a real thing)a week from then. The post-credits scene does also involve that match getting prepared for.

This was a fun episode, all in all. Really curious to see how the futsal match plays out. Don’t know how many episodes it will take, but…futsal. Yeah.
