Kill Blue Episode 3 – “Wipe Your Own Butt”

Yeah, this is easily the wildest episode title (out of context) to come out of this series so far. Maybe there will be a different title to top it once we get further into the anime season. After all, we’re only 3 episodes into the series so far. There’s always room for titles to change from here.

Anyway, Ogami has his first struggle when it comes to studying in the series…math, specifically with variables. Which, honestly? Realistic struggle for someone who was taken out of school prior to middle school to become a hitman. I’m certain there are probably plenty of people who can relate to Ogami’s struggles here.

Since Eri is busy with work and Kotatsu states that he sucks at math, Ogami tries studying on his own in the library, where he runs into one of his classmates. That classmate is Shiraishi, and he also studies here from time to time, even deciding to help Ogami out due to deducing that the reason Ogami is struggling was because he struggled to pick up previous lessons.

This effort pays off when Ogami passes a math quiz, so Ogami and Shiraishi decide to head to a family restaurant. There, a guy runs into them while they’re busy looking for a place to sit. The two do end up sitting down, where they have a conversation. Here, we learn that Shiraishi wants to become a doctor.

Then like nails on a chalkboard, that man speaks up with such bullshit that I’m genuinely applauding Shiraishi for keeping his resolve. Never change, Shiraishi.

The two finish up at the restaurant and are on the way home…when that fucking guy starts chasing after them on a bike. BOOOOOO! Ogami uses his skills to tactically flip him into the water, though, and all without Shiraishi picking up on Ogami doing it. Thank goodness.

And that…is just the first half of the episode. That’s right. We’re not even done with the episode yet.

It’s the second half of the episode where the energy of the title really comes into play. And oh boy, is it fun.

Ogami literally can’t keep his residence clean unless there’s either a housekeeper involved or Kotatsu doing the work. Doesn’t help that Ogami still holds the belief that cooking and cleaning are the jobs of women.

Anyway, clubs are starting that week at school, and Ogami is trying to figure out which club to join. He’s resolved to stay away from athletic clubs, likely due to his athletic skills from being a hitman. He talks to Shiraishi, who he finds out is taking the kendo club. Shiraishi helps Ogami look at the papers for the other clubs, where Ogami finds the home ec club. Ogami makes a statement that basically boils down to “I’m not doing that, I’m a man”…which the president of the home ec club overhears.

It also turns out that the president of the home ec club is Shiraishi’s sister.

Ogami ultimately has to join the home ec club’s trial session, where he’s then issued a challenge: try not to have fun while in the session! If he doesn’t have fun, he gets someone to clean his house for six month. If he has fun, he has to join the club.

I won’t spoil too much more, but it does result in Ogami (alongside Noren) joining the home ec club, and a little outburst that will likely follow around in the background of the rest of the episode…mainly because at one point in the episode, Ogami finds out how he’s going to get more information on how he’s going to turn back to normal…by getting married to Noren, because if he gets married to her, then via an announcement made by the company whose president she’s the daughter of, whoever marries her will inherit the company.

I think I’m far enough in to this post to state that I’ll be continuing to use Netflix to watch the episodes of Kill Blue. I don’t know why I waited until now to say this. But there’s your answer. Yippee! :]

This was a nice episode, and it seems it’ll lead to some fun developments for the story in the future. It seems like there’s going to be a good path forward that won’t be spread out across 1000+ episodes including multiple fully TV original episodes that eventually get to the point of the TV original episodes being over half of the entire series. Hm, maybe that quotation is about a specific show I’m also a fan of?

Okay, I’ll see y’all next week.
