Always a Catch! Episode 6 – “How the One That Got Away Fought With Her Father”

Okay, I think I figured out why this “the one that got away” thing to refer to Mimi is bothering me so much. The first time the phrase “the one that got away” was used in this series (Episode 2), it was clearly in reference to Renato. While one could argue that Episode 4 could be referring to Renato in that instance as well, Episode 5 is when the naming scheme stopped making sense. Why is Mimi being referred to as “the one that got away”? Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep calling Renato that? I also felt like this series would at least keep the How at the beginning, but nope! We’re switching that out in Episode 7!

This isn’t enough to cause me to drop the series. It’s either a Japanese thing that I don’t understand and that translation doesn’t easily get across, or whoever is translating the titles is making this decision and I don’t understand why that decision is being made. Anyway, time for me to actually talk about the episode instead of complaining about the episode titles.

Mimi’s arrived at the kingdom of Muro, and is greeted by her family…even if her father’s upset that she didn’t come in during the exact instant that she arrived at the residence. Give her a break, man, she traveled far to come here!

Anyway, this episode establishes two things: how Mimi’s dynamic with her family is, and continuing the plot thread from the last episode. This really just feels like a transitional episode, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Just means there’s less in the episode that I feel like is actually worth talking about.

While I found a specific joke in this episode to be funny, especially since it builds on something from the previous episode, but I feel like I should keep that on the down low and have you piece together what I’m talking about by watching the episode yourself.

But considering both what I saw in the preview and the title of the next episode, I think I have a lot more to talk about regarding Always a Catch! next week compared to this week. Legitimately so excited for where the series will go from here.
