Another episode of the kitty show! And yes, it’s technically the kitty and dragon show due to the fact that there’s also a dragon that’s a main character, but since 3 out of the 5 episodes so far had a cat take more of the spotlight than the dragon, that just makes it the kitty show by default. Anyway, it’s episode time! Yay!
We start with the cat dragon talking to one of the cats (yes, it’s a white one, named Shirotae), and declining for the cat to go off and find his own territory, thinking that he wants to go to the human country. Shirotae refused to give up, however, and kept asking the cat dragon if he can leave the forest. The cat dragon eventually relents…under the condition that he is marked so the cat dragon can always know where Shirotae is, but that seems to be just the compromise that he wants.
And so, Shirotae sets out, eventually making it near the mountains outside the forest. While looking for food, Shirotae finds a human that’s hunting, though in a way that doesn’t seem intuitive to a cat, even if she has the strength of being completely undetected.
This causes Shirotae to meet Gallie, an orphan who lives with 6 children and a teacher, meaning she goes to a place that has 8 people total including her. While she’s surprised at first that Shirotae can talk, she does let the cat follow her.
Shirotae also helps Gallie with getting more meat, bringing it back to where Gallie stays for her to use in the soup she cooks. The children at the place also decided to pet Shirotae, with Shirotae being like “I’m an adult, I can handle this”, but some of the kids were treating Shirotae in a way that made me go “no, stop doing that, the kitty’s uncomfortable!”
Heh, being a cat person has it advantages.
Shirotae does end up getting caught off guard by there being more people the next day, even if only because this place is a church school, and the adult here who works to take care of the kids alongside Gallie is a reverend who teaches them.
During the school day, Shirotae joins Gallie on a mission from the guild, using magic to help Gallie, especially once she reveals that the only spell she knows how to use is an explosion spell. Shirotae offers to teach her, but Gallie’s like “nah”, but Shirotae and Gallie still end up living together, though how they get closer is another story for another day.
There’s other stuff that occurs in the episode, like Shirotae talking to the reverend, and the cat dragon occasionally checking in on Shirotae, but I wanted to try and focus on the more main parts of the episode this time. Anyway, fun episode! Really like the white cat, it’s a major mood.
Though I do have one complaint…
That sentence is missing an “is”. While it’s good that I couldn’t pick up on any errors in the subtitles until Episode 5, I’d still like to see this go down to zero if possible.
While next episode doesn’t follow the “The [Blank]and the [Blank]” title scheme, it does still use The as the first word, so at least I can still anchor it to the series with the fact that it starts with The. So maybe the pattern was just “The” all along. Who knows.
