Okay. There’s a lot I want to talk about in regards to this episode. Because holy freaking shit?! This episode. This episode man. I don’t even know if I’ll even be able to let my thoughts out in a coherent way. That’s how much this episode shaked me up. Yeah, I know I should be using “shook” instead of “shaked”. Yes, I’m keeping “shaked” there. Fight me.
Let’s start with the most obvious place to start: the beginning. This is the first time we see Kinme not be on time for opening her store due to oversleeping, and it’s because she went to a restaurant the previous night and got drunk, claiming that her mind went blank after the first sip. Kyu has to literally climb up a tree, get onto the second floor balcony, and open the little door thing and proceed to invite himself into her room just to see what’s happening. Don’t try this at home, kids.
We also get to see a pill bottle on the ground, which first led me to a different conclusion that I don’t really want to elaborate on because, thinking more into it, it’s probably too dark to reasonably make sense for Wash It All Away‘s main story, and I’m not one of those people to try and make dark theories public.
Also, when I first saw the pill bottle, I thought it was for some kind of medicine that people with amnesia may have to take. It was not. I just wasn’t being smart there.
Then there’s the fact that a festival has been brought up again. A specific set of festivals was also brought up last week. The fact that it’s been brought up again means that something important has to happen at a festival at some point during this series.
Also, the person that Kinme was at the restaurant with claimed Kinme wasn’t drunk at all, though Kinme had the same kind of eyes she had in that scene when Kinme was explaining how one sip cleared her mind. I forgot when exactly this happened, so I’m just slotting it in here.
The fishing banner also got cleaned by Kinme, but…I think that’s the least of our concerns at the moment because there’s two things I noticed, yet only one I want to talk about at the end of the episode.
During a scene where Kinme sits on top of the roof, we see another Kinme (though looking more beat up and like she’s in high school, though don’t quote me on the second point) sitting next to Kinme for a brief period. While there could be any number of explanations for why she could look like that, I can’t think of any good ones. So, that’s making me wonder:
Is it right for me to wish for Kinme to get her memories back if it could end up causing her more harm than good in the end?
After seeing that, I think there’s a good reason for Kinme’s mind to have washed away her memories except for what she knows about cleaning. I won’t know for sure until Kinme shows more signs of regaining her memory, but I’ve been enjoying the series nonetheless. I’ll still stick around, if only for the feel good vibes and not the “I hope Kinme gets her memory back!” part.
