Always a Catch! Episode 12 – “How I Punched My Way into Marrying a Prince”

After this post goes live, I shouldn’t have to write Always a Catch! on my blog for quite a while. This is either a blessing or a curse, and I’ll let you decide which one it is once you’re done reading this post.

Anyway, like I suspected, this episode had a focus on the aftermath of the ending of the previous episode for part of its runtime, with the rest of it being dedicated to the ball! Finally! Took us long enough!

While Mimi, Aida, Placadio, and Renato are waiting to go out and do their stuff for the ball, Aida overhears some of the nobles engaging in gossip. However, they still go out and do the ball stuff.

There is also shown the aftermath of the ball, where Mimi and Renato talk, with Renato being like “stop adding prince to my name, just call me Renato”, and while Mimi struggles to at first, she does it, but Renato pulls the “I couldn’t hear that, could you repeat it?” card just to make Mimi repeat it. This results in Mimi going in to punch Renato, Renato blocking it, and the two laughing.

There is a post-credits scene where Mimi and her father are in a carriage discussing everything, and he’s like “you did exactly what I asked”, and ends with the camera going up into the sky.

I know I could’ve covered more, but I think that basically covers the important plot stuff in this episode. But based on how the episode ended, I doubt that we’re going to be getting a season 2 of this show any time soon. Even if we did, I’d probably be hesitant to check it out considering the fact that I wasn’t really vibing with the show during at least part of the latter half of it. I’m sorry, I just don’t like Ireneo.

I don’t know, it just feels like the show was going in a direction that I didn’t vibe with at some point, and I think it started with Mimi starting to feel bad for Ireneo. If it weren’t for that, then maybe I’d like Always a Catch! more in the end, but because of it, I find it hard to say my feelings aren’t mixed about this series.

I absolutely love the animation and the music. Up until a certain point, the story was fun. I just think the stuff with Ireneo could’ve been done differently. Whatever. I’m done talking about this show for now.
