Okay, just to make it clear, in my previous post about this show, when I said “Asher”, I was referring to Jeffery, or as I shall refer to him in the remainder of my posts, Jeff, mainly because I was struggling to remember if we learned his name last episode at all, so I just went with whatever name I could see get used for him, and since I saw the last name first, that’s what I used. Just figured I should leave that heads up so that, going forward, we’re all on the same page with how I refer to characters.
We start the episode with Jeff talking to his brother, where we find out their uncle is having a birthday party coming soon. This talk also includes discussions of the dinner that Jeff had with Victoria. We also find out through this conversation that this uncle has a talented new assistant. And, in the words of the official Crunchyroll subtitles…
“Apparently, she’s multilingual and a great housekeeper.”
Even if it weren’t for the fact that this is anime land and that Jeff and Victoria would meet up again eventually because Jeff spoke his desire into existence, we all know who it’s going to be. It’s Victoria. Spies would need to learn a good amount of skills to help them play any role.
Anyway, they arrive at their uncle’s place, and it’s much cleaner than it usually is. They do this whole thing where they try keeping the identity of the assistant secret for a time, but let’s be honest, we all know who it is, it’s Victoria.
Though we do find out why she gets this job. As it turns out, she had spent some time talking to the victim of the purse snatcher, and the flashback covers both how she got her place from this person, as well as how she got her job, even covering her first day on the job, and the fact that she was the one responsible for planning this party. My favorite part of this entire flashback being that the person’s hat gets blown off, and she seems to be so ready to part with it, only for Victoria to go and get it herself utilizing some of her skills.
But hey, at least Victoria isn’t living out of a hotel anymore.
After the dinner, Jeff and Victoria have a discussion, and during that discussion, Nonna ends up walking in. Jeff brings up the idea of a picnic while Nonna’s listening in, and after both Nonna and Jeff seem reasonably excited about a picnic, Victoria ends up caving and deciding to go out for a picnic.
During this picnic, we get to see Nonna climb a tree, which I find to be so adorable, even if there was a sense of “please don’t fall” mixed in there. They do enjoy their meal, and when they’re about to head back out, they first have a brief discussion before actually heading back out. During the ride back, Victoria reflects on how she’s never truly been in love, and whether what she’s feeling is love. We also have a sweet scene of her and Nonna back at her place, which also includes a flashback of when Victoria got the necklace she threw away, which was revealed to be something she received when she completed her first job.
Though, since it appears we can’t end on wholesomeness this episode, we do get a scene of her old boss. He finds the necklace, though he doesn’t seem fully convinced that she’s dead. Well, really all we see is him asking internally “Chloe, are you still alive somewhere?”, but I think that’s close enough to him questioning whether her death was real for it to count.
But, woo! There’s another episode in the bag! Apparently, there’s only going to be nine episodes of this series, at least according to Anilist and the official site for the anime. As I don’t know how physical release announcements work in Japan, I don’t know if this is confirmed for sure to be the only episodes we get during this season, or if there’s still at minimum one release that has yet to be announced. Genuinely hoping it’s the latter, because if it’s the former, then I’m not sure how satisfied I’ll end up being.
This is still a fun episode overall, and I genuinely can’t wait to see where the series goes from here. I have plenty of hope that the series will remain good.
