Ugh, I’m not feeling my best at the moment. Not only am I in that time of the month for me (though I’ve got it handled as of my previous simulcast writeup, as my cramps don’t feel as bad compared to when I was doing my writeup that goes live on Thursdays), but I feel like I’m starting to come down with something. I’ll likely have more of an understanding of what’s going on with my health come Wednesday, and that’ll be included in either a post on my socials or as part of my usual Wednesday writeup on the site.

Okay, now with my health disclaimer out of the way, it’s time for my second disclaimer: I’ll only guarantee that I’ll continue following Meitantei Precure through Episode 40. During that time, Meitantei Precure needs to try and have me feel like this series is improving. If it can do that on or around Episode 40, then I’ll continue following the series until the end. If it doesn’t, then I’m dropping it and I won’t be picking it back up until the series is over, at which I’ll watch the remaining episodes and give my thoughts in one big post just to see if I stopped my weekly viewing too soon or if I had made the right choice with where I chose to stop my weekly viewing. Don’t expect me to start exactly when the series is over, though. Gimme like…a good while before I do that if I do drop it.

Okay, now what’s going on in this episode? Here we go…

Anna, Mikuru, Kurea, and Luluka recover an item that was stolen by the Phantom Thieves’ Guild while one of their members was in disguise. Only one issue. Pochitan led them to the item after it was already stolen…so they have no idea who the owner of it is! They take it to the police station, marking the second time that the police have been present in Meitantei Precure, as far as I can recall! Hmm, I wonder what that first time was…

They end up calling in the art museum person to identify what the object within the box is (it’s a scroll that’s a historical item with high value), and Shiruku is also serving as police chief for the day (at least, on TV), and our star detectives decide to have Shiruku bring up the item during her next TV appearance for her thing, and it works…too well, as there are three suspects that claimed to be the owner of the scroll.

I had a prediction as to which of the suspects was the culprit…and, well, the one that I thought was the actual owner ended up being the culprit. Can’t believe I did that after just how well I did with figuring out what’d happen in Detective Conan Episode 1213, even if I didn’t get the exact details of everything in that episode. Conan‘s even intended for an older audience compared to Precure as well! It’s more than likely that Conan was just more obvious with its case in that episode. Then again, I made my Precure prediction without even seeing any of the evidence, so…yeah, just call me Kogoro Mori already.

We have the standard magical girl fight, with this episode being the debut for Arcana’s solo finisher. Can we please see this finisher more compared to the group finisher? Her solo finisher was so nice!

Anyway, the scroll gets returned to its owner, though it’s requested to be restored with art museum lady knows someone who can do that, and we also see Luluka look at the titled full moon.

…oh, yeah, there were points in this episode where we see Luluka apologize to Shiruku and the art museum lady. I didn’t feel these necessary to bring up in my plot breakdown, however, as I feel like this was the bare minimum for the arc that Luluka’s going through. And unfortunately, it appears that next episode is going to be yet another Luluka focus episode. What about Anna and Mikuru? You know, the characters we’ve been following since the beginning of the series?

With every episode that’s passed as of late, it’s making me feel more and more like Anna and Mikuru were only created to serve as the on-ramp for the Kurea and Luluka plotline, just due to how underdeveloped that it feels like Anna and Mikuru are. Hopefully this will change, but my hopes are low.

Honestly, this episode also had some cuts between the episode and the footage that gets constantly reused that I felt were awkward. Take, for example, the lead into the group transformation. The ending of the segment prior to the transformation felt to me like Luluka was about to step forward, only to go to the transformation. It’s more than likely a communication breakdown somewhere along the line, as I don’t like to make accusations regarding when certain technology is used just based on something that I think is still likely to occur with human error.

At the end of the day, though, it’s just…an episode. I thought that Shiruku being in it would make me think higher of it, but…no, it’s still just an episode. Hm.
