In case anyone who read last week’s post was curious about whether my package arrived, it did come the day after I made the post, so there’s that. Anyway, next week’s episode has a TWO word name instead of a ONE word name, so I think it will be an integral episode, afterward taking a break from new episodes until the Spring 2025 anime season. I know I should’ve left this until the end, but I thought I would forget if I DIDN’T, hence why I’m bringing it up now. Okay, I’ll get into the review now.
And I need to apologize: It appears I misremembered the ending of last week’s episode, and the gang didn’t actually fly away yet. Not going to go back and change it now, just let it be known that I am not immune from making mistakes. In fact, I think between me and my mom, I’m more prone to making mistakes.
But Neva approaches the plane, causing everyone to get out, and Piccolo to recognize Neva. As it turns out, the whole senile thing is an act, and Neva seems to want to help the crew, since the Demon Realm Dragon Balls need to have the password recited and wish made in the Namekian language. Since Piccolo has seemingly forgotten the language, they need to drag Neva along for the ride. Just like I was skeptical with Glorio, I’m being skeptical with Neva. His first appearance showed him working with Gomah, and there had been next to no hinting that I picked up on that suggested that Neva didn’t want to work with Gomah aside from the senileness…but that can easily be excused because he looks old. Probably the only new character introduced in Dragon Ball DAIMA that I actually trust is Panzy, and that’s because I can’t think of any reason that would have her turn her back on the crew.
Anyway, the plane flies off to where the Tamagami is, and after learning that anyone can fight the Tamagami to claim the Dragon Ball, as long as it remains a 1v1 fight…meaning Vegeta is the one to challenge the second Tamagami. The fight is going decently, until Vegeta ends up getting into the water, releasing the kraken! Vegeta manages to get back above ground before the kraken can eat him…only for the kraken to come above ground and get him in its mouth. Vegeta’s going to get out of this somehow…the only question is how.
At the same time the plot with the gang is happening, Arinsu goes to the witch and ends up getting another Majin made, this time using more of Majin Buu’s essence. They end up going all in…and make Majin Duu. Can I just call him DuuDuu? Is that a joke I’m legally allowed to make? If the answer is “no, because it’s too funny”, THEN I’M NOT GOING BACK TO JAIL!
Duu appears to be more based on the glutton Buu in appearance and personality, giving Kuu the chance to show off his more conventional talents. But it’s Duu’s turn to fight against the Tamagami, and it appears to have more of a chance to beat the Tamagami. While he’s still silly, he doesn’t appear to be as much of a gag villain as Kuu is. He does appear to get more worked up after having his head burned (for lack of a better term) by the Tamagami, and since this fight is also ongoing, there’s the chance Arinsu could snag the Dragon Ball before the crew comes to the First Demon World.
Host malone, just with last week’s episode and this week’s episode, I had to write a LOT of “uu” names, when I previously only had to write Buu. Honestly makes me kind of glad that if I’m reading the Winter 2025 guide on Crunchyroll correctly, we’re getting a break from Dragon Ball Daima for the Winter 2025 anime season, because I don’t know if I could do so many weeks in a row of writing “uu” names.
But overall, this episode was enjoyable. And as I already pointed out the thing with next week’s episode in the opening paragraph, I don’t have to do so here. Honestly, I’m excited to see how they wrap up this cour. This definitely will not be the end of the story (it’s too long for just one cour), but hopefully they find a good stopping point.
